The August cover project is a beautiful Dresden Plate quilt, "China Blue" by Hilary Gooding. This is an advanced project, resulting in a stunning bed quilt. Weve got a gorgeous wall hanging "Ship Shape" by Katharine Guerrier, a quick and easy project with lots of nautical style. Theres also a batik medallion style wall hanging from Chris Hammacott, a funky playmat by Mandy Munroe and a wonderful set of five different projects showcasing Fabric Freedoms William Morris range, designed by Sally Ablett.Theres lots for anyone interested in new techniques too, our Journal Quilt this month is by Judy Fairless, and features discharging colour from fabric with bleach. This is a great technique which doesnt need any complicated or expensive equipment, I cant wait to try it. There are other innovations in this issue, Esther Anderson introduces us to an amazing new shrinking fabric, just quilt and steam to create this beautiful effect. Liz Sewell has produced a reference guide to interfacings, fusibles and other useful materials, which will help you identify your Pellon from your Vilene, and help when matching project requirements to what youve already got in your stash! Weve printed a pre-show update for Festival of Quilts, to help you plan your time at this summers favourite and biggest show. Dont forget to come and visit Popular Patchwork on our stand at F19. There will be a demonstration of twin needling by Pat Stone at 2pm on Saturday 22nd August, why not come along, pick up a free handout and admire Pats lovely samples. Also in this issue, Gillian tells us about the last Studio Art Quilt Associates Exhibition, Transformations - Icons and Imagery. SAQA will be exhibiting again at Festival of Quilts, I cant wait to see some more of this outstanding work.Evelyn Ramsay is the star of our Conversation Piece in August. Evelyn has been an artist and quilter for over 30 years, and its fascinating to read about her inspiration and achievements. Out and About features Lime TArts in Perthshire and Anne reviews the Chilford Spring Quilt Festival. Weve also got a report from down under, Joan Drake takes us on a quilting whirlwind tour of Adelaide.

Avispa Plan by Glynn Guest MM2071 A Glynn Guest design for a steam powered semi-scale Torpedo Boat DestroyerThis is a two sheet plan for a radio controlled model. It is to an approximate scale of 1:35 producing a model 40 inches (1000mm) long. The plan was featured, together with photographs and full constructional advice in the February 2012 Model Boats magazine (No. 62/735). Full constructional information is included on the plans and the model could be built with conventional electric power if desired. The model is straightforward to construct with little or no model building experience required and the recommended steam plant is a standard commercial unit.
Fournier RF-4 RC2085 Plan Designed by Rene Fournier in 1966, the Fournier RF-4 single-seat motor glider is capable of classically graceful, smooth aerobatics, traits that Peter Miller has been able to reflect in the performance of this delightful 1/6 scale, 74" (1880mm) wingspan version. Rolls, loops, Cuban 8s and stall turns are all within the models repertoire, performed at a gentlemanly pace, but shes also great for relaxed flying, sailing gently past on a. 30 four-stroke. To complement this superb model, MyHobbyStore can provide a canopy (CANRC2085), CNC-cut parts (CNCRC2085) and an additional wood pack (WPRC2085) to complete the build as well as a complete set that includes plan, canopy, CNC parts and wood pack (SETRC2085).
