Milling is the process of cutting away material – usually, but not exclusively, metal – by feeding a piece of work past a rotating multiple-tooth cutter. The cutting action of the teeth of the milling cutter provides a fast method of machining, & the machined surface may be flat, angular, or curved. The surface may also be milled to any combination of shapes. The process of milling is a vital part of the engineer’s, & the model engineer’s, armoury. Stan Bray’s detailed book on this important subject covers different types of milling machine & describes milling techniques with the aid of photographs & specially prepared drawings. Including much advice & warnings of potential pitfalls, this book is the perfect companion for the amateur engineer. Author: Stan Bray ISBN: 978 1 86126 680 4 176 pages Hardback 246x 189 mm 148 b&w photos 32 diagrams ...

Tamiya 1:24th scale Mini Cooper 1275S mk. 1 Rally Model Car Kits (24039) About this model A front wheel drive was selected to keep the floor paneling level flat. A small powerful engine was selected & developed to be mounted sideways, in front, & driving the small diameter 10" wheels, which were laid out at the four corners of the body. By this design, 80% of the overall length could be utilized for the passengers & driver, & to further increase the space, the gearbox was installed in the oil sump of the engine. The suspension system of the Mini was one of its most excellent features. Four wheel independent suspension using a double wishbone & a rear trailing arm & the springing was a rubber, semipneumatic, liquid filled & the front & rear wheels were joined together with a thin pipe to equalize the pressures during running. This type of dampening, using hydraulic springing is very compact, so that it could all be mounted without interfering with the passenger compartment. It was patented under the name of " Hydrolastic". The designer of this vehicle was sir Alec Issigonis, a Greek who became a naturalized British subject, & well known throughout the British automobile industry. Paint & Glue not included ...
