Heinkel He 111 (A05021) The Heinkel He-111 was the mainstay of the German offensive against Great Britain during the “Battle of Britain”. It was produced in far larger quantities than the Do-17 series and remained in service throughout the war. Seafire XVII (A06102) The Mk XVII was the first of the Seafire variants to feature a cut-down rear fuselage and distinctive drop-style canopy, distinguishing it from previous marks of Seafire. Due to reinforcements in the wings, a heavier weapon load was also able to be carried, with both fuel tanks and rockets becoming an option for under the wings. The Mk XVII also benefitted from a reinforced main undercarriage. Airfix Vostok 1 (A05172) Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space on 12th April 1961 on board the Vostok 1 spacecraft. He was launched by a modified ballistic missile, the SS-6, converted into the A series of launch rockets. The flight, launched from the Tyuratam Cosmodrome, lasted 108 minutes and travelled 25, 400 miles (40, 900 km). The Vostok capsule was 7.5 feet (2.3m) in diameter and weighed 1, 765 lbs (800 kg).The A-series of launchers had 20 main engines clustered in fours - four for the main core and four each on four each on four tapered strap-on boosters. They developed a million pounds (453, 000 kg) of thrust and are still being used today to launch Soyuz and Progress craft to the International Space Station. The Vostok series included six launchings over a two-year period. The final two missions in June 1963 by Vostok 5, followed two days later by Vostok 6, carrying Valentina V. Tereshkova, the first woman in space, were notable in that the two spacecraft travelled at times only 3 miles (4.8 km) apart, setting the stage for future space dockings between orbiting vehicles.

Aichi D3A1 Val (A02014) The Val became the first aircraft to drop bombs on American targets at Pearl Harbour. Six squadrons of Vals participated in the attack, and succeeded in doing extensive damage to the U.S. battleships in the harbour. The Val was a very stable bombing platform with surprisingly good manoeuvrability for a fixed-gear dive bomber. Scale: 1:72

Airfix Saracen APC Mk 1/2/3 (A02328) The Saracen was rushed into service due to the need of an Armoured Personnel Carrier for use during the Malaysian Emergency by the British Army. It carried a small turret on the roof, carrying a Browning. 30 MG. A. 303 Bren gun could also be mounted on an anti-aircraft ring-mount accessed through a roof hatch.
Airfix Sherman "Crab" Tank (A02320) To support the infantry through the minefields on the ground operation in Europe and the Pacific, US military engineers decided to modify their new tank, the M4 Sherman, which was not only used by US forces, but also by the British, Canadian and Free French forces. Chains attached to a cylinder on the front of the Sherman made contact with anti-personal or anti-tank mines, triggering the explosion which would not destroy any part of the Sherman tank.
B-24 Liberator (A06010) Produced in greater numbers than any other American aircraft, the Liberator had a long and distinguished career with the US and Allied air forces. Never as glamorous as the B-17 Fortress, with which it shared the daylight heavy bombing offensive over Europe, the B24 did however prove to be a very capable bomber aircraft. The B-24J on the box front was the most widely used of all Liberators and saw extensive service, principally in the Pacific, where it was the main heavy bomber until the appearance of the B-29 in 1944. The Sea Vixen was a capable carrier-based fleet defence fighter that served into the 1970s.
