Journal Quilt Challenge: Working with Sheer Fabrics by Elizabeth Stone Elizabeth Stone has created this simple but effective Journal Quilt using layers of sheer fabric over painted images. She was inspired by the sample pieces that her mother, Pat Stone created whilst studying for her arts degree. Pat realised that by using sheer fabrics over a painted fl at surface, she could give her work texture and perspective. The rippled surface of water could be created by strips of sheers over a solid blue/green background; or the changing colour of the sky as the sun sets could be echoed in different shades and layers of sheers. The possibilities are endless... This project is an extract from Popular Patchwork magazine first published in October 2009. It is a Digital Edition and comes as a downloadable PDF file.
