Created from a wonderfully marked piece of ash, I carved lines in a circular pattern to match the natural circular grain pattern. Giving the piece a coat of mid-brown wax I then rubbed verdigris wax into the grain to achieve the look you see now. A solid piece measuring 250mm x 250mm x 50mm
Numbered and signed series limited to 88 u.

Observing our world allows us to understand nature’s power to provide us with what we need. We draw inspiration from the shapes surrounding us and translate them into objects that we can use in our daily lives: form, function and nature come together to advance our well-being. Our artisans are committed to achieving the utmost quality in order to transmit the essence of humanity in every detail.
Verónica MartÃnez Design takes the dynamic shapes found in our natural surroundings and reimagines them in functional design. We skillfully craft sculptural furniture for architecture and landscaping projects.

On one of our many travels we stumbled across a dusty old box full of vintage mounted Roebuck antlers from Germany. We loved their aged vintage charm and the natural wear to the wooden mounts.
Aside from making stunning decorative pieces they could act as a coat hook (nothing too heavy though!) or a towel peg but we just love them on a wall either alone or with their friends!
They make the perfect alternative decoration and look fantastic hanging from a front door
We've grown so attached to our little friends that we've given them names. Chose from the selection above.
Sizes and antlers vary, with mounts being around 20cm in length and antlers between 20-30cm.
A nice solid little piece of purple heart which has been carved, textured and scorched. Red spirit stain has been applied to the outside whilst metallic green and gold acrylic paint finishes the bowl. Signed and dated using English and Runic lettering.

Inspired by my liking of industrial workings, the front section represents cogs, the rear, a tunnel boring machine. The main body of the work is laburnum, the tail piece made from poplar as is the log its sat upon. Rusted metal bands held with metal pins encircle the cogs. The log has been scorched on the ends and treated with several coats of danish oil, the main body finished with beeswax.
Measurements are 250mm x 215mm { 9 3/4 ins x 8 1/2 ins }.
This piece was turned from purpleheart, a wood of central america. The outside surface has been textured using a wire brush and then scorched with a blow torch. Green metallic paint was then applied before adding bronze coloured metal studs. The inside and base have a matt black finish giving a nice contrast.
Signed and dated with English and Runic lettering.
Measurements are 150mm x 75mm {6 ins x 3 ins }.

A beautifully marked piece of sycamore measuring 210mm x 75mm {8 1/4 ins x 3 ins} with a purpleheart collar. I more often than not colour or texture sycamore but this piece just had to be sanded, sealed and waxed then buffed up to a lovely finish.
The purpleheart collar offers a nice contrast to the creamy colour of the sycamore and compliments the piece quite nicely.
As with all my work the piece is signed and dated using English and Runic lettering.
We have been exploring pattern and surface, using the ancient technique of intarsia pattern creation with exotic wood veneer. The pattern we have chosen for our interpretation is a Japanese stencil print from the 18th century, reworked into a continuous repeat with a macassar ebony ground and white oak.
The motif is a stylized Chrysanthemum against a background of foliage.
The KIKU or Chrysanthemum is the symbol for the Japanese Royal family, and within feung-shui, the Chrysanthemum is said to bring laughter and happiness.
Each piece of the pattern is cut by hand using the traditional fret saw method, and then carefully glued in place, sanded & lacquer finished, gold leaf is applied the the outside edges.
Solid oak wall carving, custom designed to celebrate and commemorate a special occasion or event. Ideal for a special wedding anniversary - eg the fifth (wood!), 10th, 25th (silver) or 50th (golden) anniversaries. This would also make a unique and quirky retirement gift, an original award, or just a lovely memento of a fondly-remembered time.
You provide the names, dates, places, catchphrases... anything you like. We lay it out, design it, send you a proof by email, and then cut and carve the finished design using our high-precision computer-controlled cutting tools. If you would like some small or large 'accent' words worked into the design, such as the 'love', 'honour', 'obey?' in the images, please write them in the options when ordering.
This makes a stunning and unique gift, you can guarantee that there are no two alike in the world!
