We found this beautiful
French chair in a
brocante on the outskirts
of Paris. Quality leaps

was found in the barn of
an old farmhouse in
Northumberland and was
covered in ivy, hence
the trailing ivy we have
applied to the
beautifully ornate chair
back. The seat has been
threaded with vintage

I like to use different
materials when designing
new pieces, to give me
an alternate view on
shapes & textures, &
this one started life as
a couple of pipecleaners!
It's all about the lines
&, from the side, you
can see every curve
mirrors the others to
give an unusual
silhouette for a rocking
chair. Originally, it
was constructed
completely out of maple
but, by adding the
walnut into the
supporting curves, the
two-tone now draws the
eye through the chair's
lines. The shorter
than usual rockers mean
it doesn't take up as
much floor space & the
design can be 'au
naturel' or upholstered
to your taste. Although
the design is
contemporary, the woods
used can be changed to
fit in with a more
traditionally furnished
home as well &, I'm
told, the wishbone is
especially comfortable
for nursing mothers.

Designed with a boudoir

brocante in a peaceful
little town in Northern
France. We have
upholstered it with a
peachy pink satin taken
from a 1930s bed sheet
found at the same
brocante. The satin is
of the highest quality
with no wear and tear.
The deep buttoned seat

This stunning Louis Chair
with bamboo effect legs
and bars and scrolled
back was a fabulous find
at The Ham Fair at Chatou
in Paris. One of a pair
we decided to cover this
one with a deep aubergine
coloured calf skin found
at the same fair.
Finished in Pewter and
piped all around in the
same calf skin we totally
transformed this elegant
piece. The corsage that
sits on top of the back
rest was taken from a
vintage Nina Ricci belt
and is made up of soft
leather flowers and
stems, some actually in
the same aubergine as the
chair - very

This Louis Chair was
found at one of our
favourite types of French
Brocantes. In a sleepy
old town in Northern
France one Sunday we were
lucky enough to come away
with a fabulous
haul. The rattan
backrest and seat are in
perfect condition, With
the addition of a
raspberry and bronze silk
pelmet, edged with a
bronze vintage trim, all
found in Paris this has
now become a chic piece
of furniture. Finished

of Northumberland.
Fitting then to be

sailor's uniform dated

The design was inspired
by one of Escher's bird &
fish tessellation
sketches & proved every
bit as difficult as it
looks to perfect all the
angles! I wanted to
create a modern design
piece that combined my
usual simplicity of style
with a real edge & this
is the result. I'm a
strong believer in
William Morris's design
philosophy Have nothing
in your houses that you
do not know to be useful
or believe to be
beautiful & I hope the
Escher table fits the
bill on both counts.
Each of the three walnut
inlaid arcs slide out to
become side tables in
their own right, leaving
the central zebrano piece
to become more & more
sculptural as each arc is
removed. The zebrano
wraps around the inside
of the funnels of each
'arm' of the central
piece to form a funnel,
rather like that of an
old-fashioned
gramapohone, that draws
the eye in through the
centre. This is
especially effective if
light is streaming
through one of the
funnels & I have been
working on a version with
a light actually built
into the heart of the
table to achieve exactly
this effect. The flashes
of red on the sides are
completely hidden whilst
the table is whole & are
only revealed as the arcs

This Louis Chair was
found at one of our
favourite types of French
Brocantes. In a sleepy
old town in Northern
France one Sunday we were
lucky enough to come away
with a fabulous
haul. The rattan
backrest and seat are in
perfect condition, With
the addition of a vintage
black velvet pelmet,
edged with delicate
vintage lace, all found
in Paris, this has now
become a chic piece of

The original brief was
set to design a modern
take on the Isokon
Penguin Donkey, that was
within 10% of the
originals dimensions. The
outcome was “embrace”
an award winning piece of
furniture, designed to
store modern media such
as DVD's, CD’s and
Magazines. This smart
piece of furniture
naturally forms two low
modern tables that are
then 'embraced' together
in order to form a
storage unit / magazine
rack / occasional
table. The flowing
curves are produced by
laminating plywood,
which is then skillfully
veneered. Laminating
consists of bonding
together many layers in
order to produce one
solid shape. Embrace is
available in a variety of
materials and finishes.

This is a fine example of
a Victorian Nursery
Chair, in excellent
condition when we found
it at an antiques fair in
Northumberland. Fabulous
deep buttoned, scrolled
top backrest and
upholstered in a vintage
black crushed velvet. We
have added a little
surprise to the back of
the chair by placing a
stunning antique tassel,
found in a Parisian flea
market. This intricate
tassel is made from
pewter metallic thread
and topped with a tiny
burgundy rosette. We
have finished the chair
with a matte Kohl paint,
