designed KaBoom we sought
to explore the
juxtaposition of warm
lighting to aggressive
shape. Is it possible to
alter the peaceful,
romantic connotations
usually associated with a
natural flame? The
symbolism of Pop Culture
constantly changes, and
tends to have varying
associations. As for the
bomb, some people might
recall the nostalgic joy
of watching cartoons as a
child, while others will
find it hard not to think
of darker moments in
history. Even though
KaBoom has a short fuse,
it burns without ever
exploding. Through the
power of association,
this lamp is in effect an
explosive source of
thoughts, images and
sounds.

The TinDrum grew out of a
desire to utilise
experience with simple
sheet metal forming and
the wish to express this
process in an original
piece. The body of the
unit is composed of three
identical sections and
the repeated folded
pattern creates a bold,
yet slender, form which

We found these chandelier
rings at a flea market in
Northumberland, hung 6
ornate vintage French
dessert spoons from one
ring, a collection of
old French kitchen
utensils from another
ring and placed a vintage
plant pot in the lower
ring this being filled
with artificial
moss. The spoons and
utensils were found at
The Ham Fair in Chatou,
Paris. The rings and
utensils have been
finished in a matte ash
grey paint, specially
mixed for us in
