Every morning, in the Valley of Maule, the Andes Mountain sun rises initiating the ritual union of land & vine. These dry vineyards situated in the coastal inland of the Pacific Cordillera shelter some of the worlds oldest Carignan vines, many of them reaching more than 80 years of age. This variety, recovered from oblivion, is without a doubt, one of the great treasures of Chile. Intense dark ruby colour, with hints of violet & mahogany on the edges. Warm & dense aroma reminiscent of spices & forests. The elegant palate has silky tannins & notes of fruit (blueberry & blackcurrant jams) over a background of rich vegetal & spicy tones (clove, tobacco, pepper). Barrel ageing has added touches of vanilla & smoke. The varietal character of the old Carinena vines is outstanding in the long & intense aftertaste. Perfect with pates, roast duck, rice dishes with meat, cold cuts, roast or braised beef, vegetable stews & casseroles or lamb.
