Royal Mail Pillar Box Model - VR First National Standard

Details: A beautiful, detailed, handmade pewter model of the VR First National Standard pillar box, at a scale of 1:19. History: Historically, Post Office district surveyors were responsible for the design of our pillar boxes, but in 1859 it was decided that there should be a national standard design. Between 1859 and 1866, Cochrane & Co cast two sizes. The door was hinged at the right, which has remained the case ever since, with a wire guard inside. Although very few are still in service, five of the larger and ten of the smaller boxes remain. Ideal for: A wonderful collectable item, for those over the age of 14 years. Measures: 8cm
