Details: A beautifully detailed, long lasting, handmade pewter pin badge of the First National Standard pillar box, at a scale of 1:60. With a secure 'clutch & pin' fastening, this pin badge is perfect for attaching to your hat or lapels. History: Historically, Post Office district surveyors were responsible for the design of our pillar boxes, but in 1859 it was decided that there should be a national standard design. Between 1859 & 1866, Cochrane & Co cast two sizes. The door was hinged at the right, which has remained the case ever since, with a wire guard inside. Although very few are still in service, five of the larger & ten of the smaller boxes remain. Ideal for: A wonderful gift & collectable item, for those over the age of 14 years. Measures: 2.5cm
