A brilliant pale yellow colour. The elegant nose has a blend of white flowers & citrus fruits which continue on the palate, making this a complex wine with long-lasting aromas & tastes. It is relatively smooth but has a definite liveliness. The producers we have selected provide us with high-quality musts, which we vinify in our cellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges. They benefit from the same technical means & the same attention as our Cote d' Or wines. The wine is then matured on its fine lees for 10 to 12 months, enabling it to acquire a certain suppleness & to make the aromas more complex. ...

The legend goes that all the hillside in Corton was once planted with red grapes. This plot belonged to the Emperor Charlemagne who delighted in the produce of his vines... Unfortunately, the wine would run down his long beard, leaving bright red stains. His wife, wanting to uphold royal dignity, complained to her husband about his love of wine. To keep the peace in his household, Charlemagne had his vines ripped out & had white grapes replanted... In future, he could satisfy his love of Corton, without spoiling his snowy-white beard & without suffering his wife's reproaches. The nose reveals woody, fruity & floral notes & will be even more complex with a few years of patience. This wine is concentrated, with fine balance & very long-lasting flavours on the palate. For its generous aromas, we can already start to enjoy this Grand Cru, but it will reach its full potential & reveal all its character after a few years in the cellar. ...

Domaine Faiveley - Clos De Vougeot 2011 6x 75cl Bottles

An intense dark ruby colour. The nose has a complex bouquet of rose and violet floral aromas and fruity aromas, with a few discreet woody notes. The attack is round on the palate and then the tannins show their strength. This wine is well structured and corpulent, with long-lasting aromas and a fine representative of this famous Grand Cru. The monks of Citeaux, on their arrival, decided to create this clos. The last acquisition dates back to 1336. It took them more than 2 centuries to make the clos as we know it. The demarcation of the clos only comes from the 14th century and the surrounding wall was probably built in the 15th century. The hand-picked harvest goes through a short prefermentary maceration first, before being vinified in part in wooden tronconic
vats. After the three-week vatting period, we use a vertical press to obtain very pure high-quality juices. The wine is then matured in oak barrels for 16 to 18 months, in nineteenth century vaulted cellars which provide ideal conditions for raising wines.
