An intense dark ruby colour. The nose has a complex bouquet of rose & violet floral aromas & fruity aromas, with a few discreet woody notes. The attack is round on the palate & then the tannins show their strength. This wine is well structured & corpulent, with long-lasting aromas & a fine representative of this famous Grand Cru. The monks of Citeaux, on their arrival, decided to create this clos. The last acquisition dates back to 1336. It took them more than 2 centuries to make the clos as we know it. The demarcation of the clos only comes from the 14th century & the surrounding wall was probably built in the 15th century. The h&-picked harvest goes through a short prefermentary maceration first, before being vinified in part in wooden tronconic vats. After the three-week vatting period, we use a vertical press to obtain very pure high-quality juices. The wine is then matured in oak barrels for 16 to 18 months, in nineteenth century vaulted cellars which provide ideal conditions for raising wines. The proportion of new oak, which is susceptible to variations according to the vintage, represents on average two thirds of the cuvee. The barrels, which come from high quality barrel makers, have been rigorously selected for their fine grain & light toast. Serve with: Red Meats, Breast of Duck, Game, Soft Cheeses ...

The legend goes that all the hillside in Corton was once planted with red grapes. This plot belonged to the Emperor Charlemagne who delighted in the produce of his vines... Unfortunately, the wine would run down his long beard, leaving bright red stains. His wife, wanting to uphold royal dignity, complained to her husband about his love of wine. To keep the peace in his household, Charlemagne had his vines ripped out & had white grapes replanted... In future, he could satisfy his love of Corton, without spoiling his snowy-white beard & without suffering his wife's reproaches. The nose reveals woody, fruity & floral notes & will be even more complex with a few years of patience. This wine is concentrated, with fine balance & very long-lasting flavours on the palate. For its generous aromas, we can already start to enjoy this Grand Cru, but it will reach its full potential & reveal all its character after a few years in the cellar. ...

The Cote-de-Beaune is stretched out over a 26km strip from Ladoix-Serrigny to Maranges crossing some of the most famous villages in Burgundy: Aloxe-Corton, Pommard, Meursault, Its vineyards lie on the best exposed hillsides & plateaus. The h&-picked harvest goes through a short prefermentary maceration first before being vinified. For the duration of the 15-18 day vatting period, the wine is kept at low temperature. It is then matured in oak barrels for 14 to 16 months, in nineteenth century vaulted cellars which provide ideal conditions for raising wines. The barrels, which come from high-quality barrel makers, have been rigorously selected for their fine grain & light toast. This wine exudes nice fresh red-fruit aromas. It has a good full attack on the palate with tannins expressing themselves & participating in the interesting structure of this wine. The whole is young & fruity & pleasant to taste already. ...
