In 1847, by royal decree of Louis Philippe, the name ‘ Chambertin’ is adjoined to the name of the village, officially becoming ‘ Gevrey Chambertin’. The h&-picked harvest is vinified for Domaine Faiveley. Our Oenologist tastes each cuvee & only chooses the best wines from trusted producers. The wine is then matured in oak barrels for 14 to 16 months, in nineteenth century vaulted cellars which provide ideal conditions for raising wines. The proportion of new oak, which is susceptible to variations according to the vintage, represents on average one third of the cuvee. The barrels come from high-quality barrel makers & have been rigorously selected for their fine grain & light toast. This Gevrey-Chambertin 2007 is a very intense dark ruby, almost black colour. Its nose is deep in red & black fruit aromas, with a hint of fresh tobacco. The mid-palate is powerful thanks to the tannins, which are present but already blended. The finish lingers on with almost sugary fudge tastes. This Gevrey Chambertin is perfectly balanced & reflects all the elegance of Pinot Noir beautifully.
