Deep garnet red with a violet tint. The nose is complex, combining the prune aromas typical of very ripe Merlot with discreet & elegant oak. Supple, round & full-bodied, this is a harmonious wine with plenty of length on the fruit, building to a crescendo finish. Saint-Emilion Baron Carl is dominated by Merlot (80%), a variety ideally suited to the appellation, especially the limestone soils on which it produces a supple & fruity wine that ages well. Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) develops incomparable aromas & tannins that give the wine character & additional ageing potential, while Cabernet Franc & Malbec (5%) provide elegance.
