An attractive violet, dense & bright. A highly complex nose of fresh oak & vanilla with traces of mild spice. On airing it opens on an array of ripe black fruit aromas, especially bilberry, combined with spice & grassy, herby garrigue odours. Round, harmonious & supple on the attack, it develops fresh fruit flavours on the mid-palate. Powerful, rich, complex & very long in the mouth, it is entirely typical of the Pauillac appellation. Pauillac Baron Nathaniel is made largely with wines from the family's three Grands Crus classes, though from lots not used in their final selection. the rest consists of carefully selected wines from the Pauillac appellation. Pauillac Baron Nathaniel is made from classic Bordeaux grape varieties. cabernet sauvignon (80%) finds its most perfect expression on this soil & in this climate, developing incomparable aromas & tannins that give the wine character & ageing potential; Cabernet Franc, Malbec & Petit Verdot (10%) give the wine its elegance, Merlot (10%) its supple fruit.
