Details: A beautifully detailed, long lasting, handmade pewter pin badge of the GVIR Type C Double Aperture pillar box, at a scale of 1:60. With a secure 'clutch & pin' fastening, this pin badge is perfect for attaching to your hat or lapels. History: This classic design, with its double aperture, oval shaped pillar was used primarily in large cities. The twin apertures proved useful when dealing with increasing quantities of mail, while also allowing letters to be pre-sorted according to region. Double aperture pillar boxes were first cast in 1899, & are still made in the present reign. Only three of the George VI boxes exist, all in the London EC District. Ideal for: A wonderful gift & collectable item, for those over the age of 14 years. Measures: 2.5cm
