The best wines are achieved by listening to nature. That's why more than twenty years ago, we chose the privileged surroundings of Fransola, a historical estate located in one of the highest areas of the Penedes, to plant one of our most highly renowned vineyards. Ice cold nights & mild days provide an excellent climate for growing vines, giving us the best Sauvignon Blanc & Parellada grapes with which we produce this elegant, balanced wine. Intense, complex aroma of exotic fruit (passion fruit & green fig), delicately ennobled by fine notes of toast & vanilla (from the ageing in new French oak). Good balance in the mouth thanks to the wine's acidity, with floral notes that pleasantly linger mid-palate. Serve at 8-10deg C. Cabernet Sauvignon & Tempranillo are the grapes that bestow their nobility on Gran Coronas, a wine of a deep red hue, with ochre & brick-red touches from its ageing. This arose from the innovative drive of Miguel A. Gran Vina Sol was a pioneer in the production of cask-fermented Chardonnay in Spain. Its name is very apt as its a wine of greater complexity & presence than the traditional Vina Sol. Chardonnay & Parellada are harmoniously blended after careful fermentation of a percentage in Limousin oak barrels, thus retaining the character of each variety. The result is a magnificent, intense wine. The best Garnacha, Carinena and Syrah grapes that produce Gran Sangre de Toro are grown in a region famous since the times of the Roman Emperor Augustus for producing the finest Mediterranean wines. Towards the end of the 1960s, Miguel Torres Carbo decided to produce a wine with a well defined identity and a character of its own. Straight away we started experimenting with Garnacha Tinta (60%) and its usual partner, Carinena (25%). The years passed and eventually we also added Syrah (15%). Thus, ennobled by ageing in oak, this wine was born with its intense colour and its rich and fruity aroma. All the exuberant aroma traditionally found in an intense, ripe red wine, with a sensual background of fine spices in good balance with perfumed notes reminiscent of blackberries.
Full, long finish on the palate. Ideal with game dishes, ragout and spicy meat dishes. Serve at 17deg C.
