Cabernet Sauvignon & Tempranillo are the grapes that bestow their nobility on Gran Coronas, a wine of a deep red hue, with ochre & brick-red touches from its ageing. This arose from the innovative drive of Miguel A. Torres, who planted the French variety of Cabernet Sauvignon in the Penedes at the end of the 1960s & early 1970s, when normal practice was to plant local white varieties. Thanks to this, Gran Coronas has become a benchmark for reserva red wines. The rich, sensual aroma is typical of the grape varieties recalling small red & black berries (cherries & blackcurrants), green coffee beans, liquorice & the characteristic vanilla & leather notes from ageing. On the palate the wine is full & silky with dense, well-structured tannins. Perfect with cured meats, paellas & vegetable rice dishes, as well as meat & game recipes or when finishing off a meal with cheeses. Serve at 17deg C ...

The best Garnacha, Carinena & Syrah grapes that produce Gran Sangre de Toro are grown in a region famous since the times of the Roman Emperor Augustus for producing the finest Mediterranean wines. Towards the end of the 1960s, Miguel Torres Carbo decided to produce a wine with a well defined identity & a character of its own. Straight away we started experimenting with Garnacha Tinta (60%) & its usual partner, Carinena (25%). The years passed & eventually we also added Syrah (15%). Thus, ennobled by ageing in oak, this wine was born with its intense colour & its rich & fruity aroma. All the exuberant aroma traditionally found in an intense, ripe red wine, with a sensual background of fine spices in good balance with perfumed notes reminiscent of blackberries. Full, long finish on the palate. Ideal with game dishes, ragout & spicy meat dishes. Serve at 17deg C. ...

Gran Vina Sol was a pioneer in the production of cask-fermented Chardonnay in Spain. Its name is very apt as it's a wine of greater complexity & presence than the traditional Vina Sol. Chardonnay & Parellada are harmoniously blended after careful fermentation of a percentage in Limousin oak barrels, thus retaining the character of each variety. The result is a magnificent, intense wine. Thanks to the presence of the Chardonnay, the wine is intensely aromatic & full-bodied, with a profusion of flowery notes over a fruity background (very ripe peaches) & a hint of fennel. On the palate the wine has a long aftertaste & is silky with an elegant fullness. A touch of vanilla in the finish is indicative of the wine's short ageing in French oak. A wonderful accompaniment to fromage frais, salt & freshwater fish, seafood (particularly good with seafood paella), even chicken & turkey. ...

A contemporary wine, produced by the latest generation of the Torres family & the result of painstaking work with the Syrah & Monastrell varieties. A passion for viticulture & enology, admiration for the work of our ancestors, & the ideal environment in which we work, are blended together in Nerola. For more than 20 years, The Torres family has avoided using chemical pesticides & herbicides in its vineyards. Nerola, however, is the first wine scrupulously made with ecological agricultural methods, fruit of a love of nature & the determination to preserve the environment. This wine offers good balance between fruity notes & a toasted background (mocha coffee) acquired during ageing in French oak casks. The nuances of spices & leather contribute to its fascinating aromatic complexity. On the palate it is velvety, with a firm & elegant body. Ideal with roast poultry, grilled vegetables, beans & pulses, & half-cured cheeses. ...

Jaime I is deep, rich & dark amber in colour. It displays a concentrated complex bouquet, with marked overtones of coconut, dried fruits & spices, typical of lengthy ageing. Round & lush, it has the smoothness that characterises great brandies. Jaime I is complex, majestic, with a lingering finish that leaves a velvety imprint on the palate. The Jaime I brandy has been made with very old 'soleras' aged from selected distilled white wines. Some of the soleras started off as distilled Parellada wines destined for their Torres 10 brandy, & which have been kept aside for many years to create a valuable stock reserve. These old reserves have been enriched with their best soleras, the oldest being 30 years old. Finally, to complement the aromatic intensity of these brandies with lighter fruity & floral notes, Torres have added a small amount of 1972 eau-de-vie of Folle Blanche, the rarest & noblest of grapes used to make the highest quality pot still brandies. ...
