Gran Vina Sol was a pioneer in the production of cask-fermented Chardonnay in Spain. Its name is very apt as its a wine of greater complexity & presence than the traditional Vina Sol. Chardonnay & Parellada are harmoniously blended after careful fermentation of a percentage in Limousin oak barrels, thus retaining the character of each variety. The result is a magnificent, intense wine. Thanks to the presence of the Chardonnay, the wine is intensely aromatic & full-bodied, with a profusion of flowery notes over a fruity background (very ripe peaches) & a hint of fennel. On the palate the wine has a long aftertaste & is silky with an elegant fullness. A touch of vanilla in the finish is indicative of the wines short ageing in French oak. A wonderful accompaniment to fromage frais, salt & freshwater fish, seafood (particularly good with seafood paella), even chicken & turkey.
