The colour is a brilliant, pale yellow with silvery highlights, reflective of the high proportion of Chardonnay. The bubbles are fine & form a lasting & delicately creamy mousse. The nose is subtle & fresh. The initial mineral aromas quickly develop into green, floral scents with hints of elderflower & spicy cinnamon overtones. Flavours are dominated by intense fresh citrus fruit which then give way to a much fuller, well-bodied & mellow taste with flavours reminiscent of white peaches in syrup. The finish is long, rich & extremely expressive. This wine can be enjoyed as an aperitif but has the structure to match grilled fish & seafood. 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir. This wine comes from top Grand Cru sites & is made from the first pressing. The level of reserve wine used in the blend varies by vintage. Limited stock, 1 bottle left. Appearance: Bright olive gold. Nose: Nose drying. Seaweed & old oranges, with smoke in the distance & some chalk. Surprisingly fruity & juicy, although with clear Talisker identity. With water almost soapy, a waxy sweetness. Smoke still present, but now more fragrant. Body: Firm. Slippery smooth. Finish: Medium to long, slightly bitter, drying finish with a warming effect. ...

Delicious, appetisingly dry & fully mature. This beautifully orchestrated variation of Talisker has a lingering finish which cannot outstay its welcome. Nose: Unreduced, a quiet nose, not hugely assertive, yet quite maritime. Fresh ships varnish. Faint nose prickle. Spicy, briny, with distant smoke. Palate: At bottled strength, a gentle start, immediately building in intensity. Slow & sweet, then kicks in peppery & hot, with significant balancing bitterness & salt, & a little smoke. Finish: Long, warming, slightly bitter & very drying, with a little smokiness. ...

Talisker Bodega No. 1 was distilled in 1978 & has been finished in casks that previously held the more than 40-year-old Quo Vadis Amontillado Sherry from Bodega Delgado Zuleta. That Sherry received 97 points from Wine Advocate & was described as a both exceptional & a reference point for the entire wine style & region. Delgado Zuleta is one of the oldest, if not maybe the oldest, Sherry houses still producing. In 1978 they merged with Benito Rodriguez La-Cave, & it is from that companys ancient stocks that Quo Vadis is created. This makes the 1978 vintage doubly pertinent for this phenomenal whisky. This special, multi-award winning Distillers Edition is double-matured in Amoroso wood. There's near perfection in the bitter-sweet harmony experienced here, as the familiar sweet smokiness of Talisker smooths out, not to pepper, but to rich, sweet, juicy fruit. The nose is extremely sharp & well focussed, with a quite wonderful sultana sweetness. Chestnut brown, this is a really full-bodied Talisker
- the peat, crisp at first, softens to enormous richness in the mouth, then wafts around the palate with sweet, roasted malt & a heathery dryness. The finish shows deep cocoa notes, magnificent vanilla & lingering, earthy peat. It is exemplary in balance between sweet & dry, with sweetness always having the slight edge. TD-S: 5NZ

Talisker Storm has a more profound maritime smoky flavour, taking the intense maritime experience to a new level. Appearance: Full Gold. Nose: At first restrained yet spicy, with a hint of struck matches; fresh-clean & growing in complexity like a gathering storm to reveal a honeyed sweet maltiness with ripe red berry fruit. Eventually a little well integrated mellow smoke drifts across the scene as a wild sea turns up briny, fresh clean notes, & an oily explosion of pepper. Body: Medium. Palate: At first sweetly mellow & rich in the mouth then quickly very spicy & increasingly stormy as the Talisker heat comes through. It's as if the pure, tongue-coating sweetness joins hands with a deep nutty smokiness to embrace those spicier notes. The flavour is elegantly drawn out with a good balance between sweetness, smoke & salt, which is all the more evident when a little water is added. Finish: Clean & of medium length, warming, with a lasting, smooth aftertaste, in which late peaty burnt embers can be found. ...
