Small batch production with limited release globally. The nose is intense & pungent, with hints of fragrant smoke & light tar, & creamy notes of sweet oak & seaweed. The initial taste is one of sweet maltiness, then a lovely balance of a tangy smokiness & vanilla notes, blending mellow & smooth. There are also hints of white pepper, bitter orange, liquorice & sea salt. The finish lingers, with flavours of oatcake & sea salt once more with a peppery sweet smoke undertone. ...

For Burla Negra, the best Caribbean rums were selected. Then aged for 24 spring tides in casks where Albario wine was aged. The distillery reproduces the same ageing process, so-called shipping solera, undergone by rum in the past, during the ocean travels. Because during those sea journeys rum organoleptic characteristicsnose & tastewere modified. Finally, real Atlantic seawater is added. Pirates usually sailed with their cargo hold full of barrels, which contained provisions, water & rum, all they needed for their voyage. As these barrels were emptied, they were filled with seawater for ballast, in order to keep the ship in balance. Once ashore, before resupplying the vessel, seawater was removed from the barrels so that they could be filled with rum again. Thus pirate rum had a salty taste that made it very different from any other rum. ...

On 20th April 1608, A licence was granted to Sir Thomas Phillips to 'make, draw & distil 'uisce beatha' within the territory called the Rowte in County Antrim. This original Grant to distil is the first official written evidence of whiskey-making in the Bushmills area. It was a fitting tribute to the reputation that this small & remote region of Ireland had earned for the quality of its ' Water of Life'
- or what would later be called whiskey. Four hundred years later, this royal license speaks of a place where the knowledge of how to create, craft & perfect whiskey has been passed down through generations to become part of the fabric of life. A place where this unique distilling tradition still lives on today, at the old Bushmills Distillery. Bushmills Irish whiskey is the original & best known whisky from the Old Bushmills Distillery, the oldest licensed whisky distillery in the world. Its is a blend of single malt & single grain whiskey. Grain whiskey reserved for Bushmills is aged a minimum of five years in oak casks that are specially selected to bring out the golden hue & light. When mature this grain whiskey is blended with a single malt whiskey to balance the flavour. The malt used in Bushmills mash derives its clean taste from the deliberate absence of peat used in the barley drying process. Irish whiskey distilleries kiln-dry their malt in a heat-fired, not peat-fired, oven. Lighter, no smoke & perfectly balanced, Bushmills is triple distilled for exceptional smoothness. Limited stock.
