Chapter 3 is the fiendish finale in Arran's Devil's Punchbowl trilogy which started in 2012 & ended in 2014. Chapter III has been matured in a combination of 21 casks; eight oloroso sherry casks, eight French oak casks & five bourbon casks. This final instalment is richer & spicier than the previous releases with layers of citrus & caramel accompanied by light smoke & sherry notes. Only 6660 bottles were released, a fitting number chosen by Arran, making this is a very limited edition dram. This is the First Chapter in the now iconic Devils Punch Bowl Series released by Arran. Released in 2012, only 6660 bottles of this now highly-sought after bottle were produced. The spirit itself was matured in oak casks & is a multi-vintage vatting of 24 casks of whisky dating between 1996 & 2006, including some peated spirit. The cask strength whisky is packaged in a devilish red & black presentation box. Nose: Savoury wood spice, caramelised pears, biscuit, dried grass & tropical fruit. This is a limited edition release of only 6660 bottles; A blend of some of the finest Arran casks from over the years, selected by Arrans Distillery Manager James Mac Taggart from the darkest recesses of Arrans warehouses. Each cask wasÊmeticulously chosen to create an Arran bottling of depth & rich character where the aromas & flavours dovetail to perfection. The numbers of each of the casks that went into the bottle are listed on the inside of theÊbox. Bottled at natural strength & without chill-filtration, The Devils Punch Bowl series is a testimony to the consistent superior quality of The Arran Malt across each year of production.Ê Chapter II of The Devils Punch Bowl is a true contrast of light & shade hence the title Angels & Devils. The 1997 & 1998 hogsheads Olorosso casks provide the foundation for this whisky & add a rich & satisfying depth. If the sherry casks are the darkness then the 2002 barrels bring a ray of sunshine to proceedings with soft vanilla notes & more of the typical Arran citrus emerging.
