A very well-aged whisky from Craigellachie, combining the distillery's famously heavy character with elegant orchard fruit & sherry-cask spice. An extremely worthy winner of the World's Best Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards 2017. A rare bottle & one really not be missed presented in a beautiful solid wood tube. Easily likeable!! Nose: Apples, pineapple, foliage, toasted oats & honey flapjacks, Biscuits, toast, salted caramel & butter icing. Citrus hints & dark oak with hazelnuts & almonds. Palate: Sugared almonds, apples & marzipan. Salted caramel, nutty toffee followed by faint hints of smoke. Finish: Sharp apple & a sprinkle of cinnamon. Biscuits, caramel & oooooh SO good! ...
The taste of the Whisky was described as Old Fashioned in 1891. Today the same old-fashioned Worm Tubs are used to cool the spirit, creating a dram to rival whiskies twice its age with a distinctive, meaty character. Craigellachie 33 year old is a true treasure. This splendid dram is the product of one distillery & a rare sherry finesse limited to 1, 700 bottles globally & exclusive to the discerning traveller. Craigellachie 33 year old is non- chill filtered & free from caramel. This is truly a rare & exquisite bottle. Nose: Loads of Honey. Mead & mint, stem ginger in syrup. Lovely toffee fudge sweetness. Dried apricots & sultanas. Palate: Shadows the nose, & the depth of apple/cider/mead layers is evident. Golden syrup, milky coffee, & plenty of vanilla. With a velvety, slightly cloying texture. Finish: Long, warming, full of mead, ginger warmth & just a hint of mint & nutmeg. ...

This spirit, just 90, 000 litres per annum is then filled into 1st fill ex-Bourbon, ex-Sherry & Virgin Oak casks &, when matured, will be bottled as Cù Bòcan. Nose: Light, sweet & smoky. Dried fruits, raisins & sultanas with a slightly floral background. Hints of roasted nuts. With spicy, citrus notes. Palate: Citrus & oats, the peat becoming more prominent here. Nutty, toasted almonds dusted with cloves & cinnamon, a spicy kick. Finish: Medium & dry, slightly smoky with a bitter malt. ...
From William Cadenhead, Scotland's oldest independent bottler a lovely 12 year old blend. Matured in a sherry solera system, the whisky is bottled at 46% & contains 65% Malt whisky & 35% Grain. There is definitely a large sherry influence in the blend & a most enjoyable dram to drink. ...
The Clan Denny, 40 Year Old Whisky, bottled by The Hunter Hamilton Company. This Single Grain Scotch was laid down in the Lowlands Caledonian distillery in 1965. A piece of history! Nose: Well, this IS old. It’s quite light & has a very smooth bourbon like flavor. A lot of white oak influence. Bourbon & Armagnac like notes are most prominent. Minor hints of oak. Dry, wheat like, vanilla & bread crust. Some nutty flavors too, almost Marsala like as well. Palate: The palate is smooth with a tiny hint of pepper. Some other spices & dry again. The bourbon flavors are present still but less so than the scent was on the nose. Vanilla, apple crumble. Baked apple with sweet brown cinnamon. Finish: The finish is light & dry. Slightly spiced but still smooth. Some light, raw oak notes & oak. This is finally where the forty years of white oak kick in. ...
