Nose: Apples, pineapple, foliage, toasted oats & honey flapjacks, Biscuits, toast, salted caramel & butter icing. Citrus hints & dark oak with hazelnuts & almonds. The taste of the Whisky was described as Old Fashioned in 1891. Today the same old-fashioned Worm Tubs are used to cool the spirit, creating a dram to rival whiskies twice its age with a distinctive, meaty character. Craigellachie 33 year old is a true treasure. This splendid dram is the product of one distillery & a rare sherry finesse limited to 1, 700 bottles globally & exclusive to the discerning traveller. Craigellachie 33 year old is non- chill filtered & free from caramel. This is truly a rare & exquisite bottle. Nose: Loads of Honey. Mead & mint, stem ginger in syrup. Lovely toffee fudge sweetness. Dried apricots & sultanas. Palate: Shadows the nose, & the depth of apple/cider/mead layers is evident. Golden syrup, milky coffee, & plenty of vanilla. With a velvety, slightly cloying texture. Finish: Long, warming, full of mead, ginger warmth & just a hint of mint & nutmeg. ...

The Clan Denny, 40 Year Old Whisky, bottled by The Hunter Hamilton Company. This Single Grain Scotch was laid down in the Lowlands Caledonian distillery in 1965. A piece of history! Nose: Well, this IS old. It’s quite light & has a very smooth bourbon like flavor. A lot of white oak influence. Bourbon & Armagnac like notes are most prominent. Minor hints of oak. Dry, wheat like, vanilla & bread crust. Some nutty flavors too, almost Marsala like as well. Palate: The palate is smooth with a tiny hint of pepper. Some other spices & dry again. The bourbon flavors are present still but less so than the scent was on the nose. Vanilla, apple crumble. Baked apple with sweet brown cinnamon. Finish: The finish is light & dry. Slightly spiced but still smooth. Some light, raw oak notes & oak. This is finally where the forty years of white oak kick in. ...
