The taste of the Whisky was described as Old Fashioned in 1891. Today the same old-fashioned Worm Tubs are used to cool the spirit, creating a dram to rival whiskies twice its age with a distinctive, meaty character. Craigellachie 33 year old is a true treasure. This splendid dram is the product of one distillery & a rare sherry finesse limited to 1, 700 bottles globally & exclusive to the discerning traveller. Craigellachie 33 year old is non- chill filtered & free from caramel. This is truly a rare & exquisite bottle. Nose: Loads of Honey. Mead & mint, stem ginger in syrup. Lovely toffee fudge sweetness. Dried apricots & sultanas. Palate: Shadows the nose, & the depth of apple/cider/mead layers is evident. Golden syrup, milky coffee, & plenty of vanilla. With a velvety, slightly cloying texture. Finish: Long, warming, full of mead, ginger warmth & just a hint of mint & nutmeg. ...

Craigellachie 17 Year Old Single Malt Whisky - 70cl 46%

Craigellachie 17 Year Old Single Malt Whisky - 70cl 46% Whisky region: Speyside Matured in a combination of Ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, the 17 year old expresses the unique style of Craigellachie Single Malt Whisky - which Alfred Barnard (the reknowned author of the 1887 book 'Whisky Distilleries of the United Kingdom') reported as seldom met with now. Craigellachie uses traditional worm tubs which can aid the production of heavier whisky as they reduce the contact with copper. A production method which has become even rarer in the modern day operations of Craigellachie's counterparts. Nose: Vanilla and orchard fruits combine with toffee aromas. Palate: Exotic citrus fruits and pineapple combine with a dense meaty mouthfeel and hints of smoke and liquorice. Finish: A long finish.
