The colour is pale yellow with light green reflections, of average intensity. The nose is open, pleasant & intense. We perceive dominant complex, fruity aromas, with golden apple, pear & a fine vegetal touch. Airing enhances the previous aromas & reveals citrus flavours of lemon & tangerine along with a complex floral note. The onset in the mouth is moderately rich, with a balanced alcohol support. The wine evolves in a medium with strict liveliness & a sparkling note. The range of flavours develops a dominant fruity note of citrus, lemon zest, spices, ginger in addition to a fine complex floral touch of vanilla. ...

A blend of the aged versions of Domeniss standard Storica grappas, vatted after distillation & aged together. Supple & peppery, with a delicious nuttiness. Pepper, quite floral & perfumed, with a nutty edge. Strongly reminiscent of white grape juice. Honeyed, with a hint of orange zest. The creamy texture & soft mouthfeel we expect of Domenis. Lemon notes, honey & vanilla alongside prominent floral notes & a nuttiness reminiscent of amontillado sherry. Very good length & remains integrated with the flavours from the palate hovering in & out of perception. A well-balanced blend of citrus, sweetness, floral & spicy aromas & flavours. ...

Domenis, perhaps the finest producer in Friuli, has produced an entry-level grappa that beats a lot of other distiller's top of the range efforts, thanks to its higher strength & delicious creamy texture. Nose: Flax, linen, blackcurrant leaf, asparagus Palate: Good texture, quite rich. Peppery entry, with honey, green apples, lemon & a vegetal character. Tongue-tingling spices Finish: Spices & pepper linger, then becomes sweeter. Lightly astringent. ...

A very elegant, restrained grappa aged in ash instead of oak to produce a more delicate, subtle style. Domenis Sogno di Dama is definitely a grappa in touch with its feminine side. Quite reserved initially. Peppery, with faint floral hints. Some winey notes & a sappiness. Citrus & sweetpea. As always, this has a quite generous texture, but the flavours are very much more restrained as compared to some of the other products in the Domenis stable. There is a light floral palate, with a woody character, but really its all about the mouthfeel. Medium-length. Elegant, floral. A restrained, demure, feminine grappa. ...

An immense flavour profile allied to superbly soft, generous texture lifts Domenis Storica into the highest echelons of grappa. A real eye-opener into what is achievable in this category. Quite wine-like, with legumes & lemon-juice & some floral notes of sweetpea & honeysuckle. Cucumber skin. Becomes very radishy. Celery & raw swede. Such a soft, generous texture! Strong pepper initally, then the floral & vetgetal notes before a sweetness in the mid-palate. Chilli pepper & honey. A long continuation of the palate. Impressive length & spices. Limited stock. ...

An aged grappa from top producers Domenis, Stravecchia is a spectacularly complex spirit with a seemingly unending finish. Amazing stuff. Flax, sesame oil, some oaky notes as expected
- resin, sap, hint of vanilla honey. Resembles a very young whisky in some respects. Sweetened porridge, natural yoghurt. Big burst of pepper initially, then sweetens slightly, with marmalade, blossom & mixed peel. The resin from the nose is also present. Mid-palate some clove & then very prominent apricot flavours come through (both fresh & tinned). Amazingly long. The pepper & clove win out over the apricot.

Domenis - Riserva 10 Years 50cl Bottle

A long-aged grappa from Domenis, this Riserva has a big, full, spicy profile, with a lot of vanilla and oak tannins rounding things out. Completely unexpected, but very strong, orange aromas of all kinds: aged orange liqueur, orange oil, bitter dark chocolate orange. Fascinating. Also quite a lot of oak. Intense. The citrus character is still there but the oak is more dominant on the palate, with drying oaky tannins doing battle with clove, pepper and hot chilli heat. Very very long, slightly drying as the oak takes hold. The clove and chilli ensure plenty of heat. The oldest of the Domenis range is also the fullest and the spiciest. The oak has a big presence here as well, but the texture is so good that this is all achieved without a suggestion of harshness.
