The Glenlivet 13 Year Old Sherry Cask Single Malt Whisky matured in Oloroso Sherry Casks & bottled at 40% ABV Very rare to see 100% Oloroso cask matured whisky, & from the taste it seems to be all European oak! A unique age statement which lets the whisky be woody but isn't over oaked. Was released for the Taiwan market
- but lot's of appeal for it in the West!! Sherry drinkers this way......... Nose: SHERRY!! No mistake here, this is definitely 100% sherry casks. Christmas cake with marzipan on top, lots of raisins, lots of orange peel & citrus notes. Cinnamon spice & delicate oak notes. With time chocolate notes come out & subtle hints of tobacco. Palate: Explosion of flavour. Sticky raisins & sultanas, the oranges are still there but with added spice. The tip of the tongue is sticky caramel, the sides are gingers & dark chocolate, the base is the european oak notes. Finish: Long & lingering, back on the tobacco notes & the oak.

The Glenlivet Alpha is making whisky history in this interesting release. The Alpha is described as a blank canvas, a single malt designed to challenge consumers to develop their own perceptions of the whisky without being influenced by age, colour or cask. The label simply says The Glenlivet Distillery & other than it being 50% ABV, that is all that anybody knows. ...
