This 21 year old release from Speyside distillery Ben Riach has been matured in four cask variations; ex-Bourbon, virgin oak, Pedro Ximenez & red wine. Each cask contributes to the unique taste of this single malt; bourbon vanilla, virgin oak spice, Pedro Ximenez sweetness & vinous red fruits. Nose: Ripe summer fruits, strawberries & bananas. A sweetness likened to candied peel, followed by a spicy & warming stem ginger. Palate: Sweet vanilla & spicy cinnamon, balanced with tangy red fruits & citrus peel. Finish: Long, sweet & satisfying. Barley sugars & honeyed malt.
