Llwynypia 1915
Llwynypia in 1915 in a fascinating series of reproductions of old Ordnance Survey plans in the Alan Godfrey Editions, ideal for anyone interested in the history of their neighbourhood or family. The map covers the northern part of Llwynypia, and stretches from Llwynypia Colliery (at the foot of the map) northward to Tyntyla Isolation Hospital and north-east to St David`s church, Tylorstown. Features include most of Llwynypia Colliery with railway lines, stretch of Taff Vale Rhondda-Fawr Branch, Llwynypia Homes, old levels and quarries, Ystrad Gas Works, western edge of Pont-y-gwaith (Deri Street), soap and candle works, tramways, Rhondda River, etc. On the reverse are directories of Llwynypia, Tylorstown and Pontygwaith in 1906.About the Alan Godfrey Editions of the 25” OS

The plans have been taken from the Ordnance Survey mapping and reprinted at about 15 inches to one mile (1:4, 340). On the reverse most maps have historical notes and many also include extracts from contemporary directories.
