Topographic coverage of mainland Spain at 1:50, 000 in the MTN50 (Mapa Topográfico Nacional) series from the Centro Nacional de Información Geografica, the country’s civilian survey organization. The maps have contours at 20m intervals, enhanced by relief shading, plus colouring and/or graphics to show different types of terrain, vegetation or land use. Boundaries of national parks & other protected areas are marked. In addition to all the usual information featured on topographic mapping at this scale, detailed presentation of the road & rail networks, rural tracks & paths, etc, the maps also show campsites & mountain refuges. On more recent editions some GRs, the official long-distance hiking routes, are also marked (although not as clearly as on hiking maps from other publishers). Each map covers 29.5x 18.5 km (with adjustments in the border or coastal areas). The maps have a 1-km UTM grid, plus margin ticks for latitude & longitude at 1` intervals. - MAP TITLES: the grids shown on our website serve both the civilian & the military 1:50, 000 topographic series. Although the areas covered by maps in both series are identical (apart from some border or coastal sheets), occasionally map titles differ – only one title is shown on the grid, usually the military one. In Galicia, the Basque country & in the Catalan speaking areas the tendency now is to use local place names rather than the often better known Castilian ones. Where possible, both versions are included in our titles. Map titles listed on our website are based on information received by us at the time of publication, but sometimes maps arrive showing a completely different title! Includes:: the peaks of Mönch & Jungfrau with the upper station of the Jungfraujoch Railway, & extends southwards to cover the whole of the Aletschgletscher, the larger glacier in the Alps. Cartography, identical to the standard version of the survey, is highly regarded for its superb use of graphic relief & hill shading to provide an almost 3-D picture of Switzerland`s mountainous terrain. Contours are at 20m intervals. An overprint highlights routes maintained by the SHF, distinguishing between hiking routes, mountain routes requiring proper footwear, & alpine routes where equipment is needed. Paths which are part of the national or regional network of long-distance hiking routes are specially marked & in the more recent editions are annotated with their official numbers. The maps show mountain huts, refuges & in remote areas also inns, plus roads with bus service & the positions of bus stops. All the maps have a 1-km grid of the Swiss national coordinates. 33 specially selected hiking trails in the Jugfrau Region of the Bernese Oberland presented at 1:50, 000 on a waterproof & tear-resistant, contoured & GPS compatible map from the Hallwag/Kümmerly + Frey group, with route profiles, grading for the severity of the terrain & the degree of fitness required, etc. The map is centered on Grindelwald, with many routes starting in or near this resort; other trails start from Mürren, Wengen, Kleine Scheidegg, Meiringen, etc. The cartography provides an excellent picture of the terrain through contours at 25-metre intervals enhanced by shading, graphic relief for exposed rock, & colouring for glaciers & woodlands. All local footpaths are on the maps, but the overprint specifically highlights 33 trails selected by the publishers in collaboration with Geo-tracks. The colouring of each trail indicates the degree of fitness needed, from “no physical shape required” to “extremely high level of physical fitness necessary”. The trails start near a railway station or a bus stop (the colouring of the road network indicates routes with public transport & locations of individual bus stops). The maps have the lines of the Swiss national grid at 1-km intervals. On the reverse each trail has a route profile, its grading according to severity of the terrain & the degree of fitness required to attempt it, details of length & approximate timing, the change in altitude on assent & descent, plus a brief description.
