The map covers the eastern part of central Edinburgh, stretching from Waverley station eastward to Whinney Hill & from West Nicolson Street northward to Hillside Crescent. Features include eastern part of Waverley station, University of Edinburgh, Pleasance Brewery, Queen`s Park, Holyrood Palace, Calton Hill, Regent Gardens, North & South Bridge, Greenside area, Moray Park Maltings, St Margaret`s Works & Locomotive Depot, tramways, Meadowbank area, Abbey Brewery, City Hospital, etc. On the reverse are street directories for Canongate & High Street. About the Alan Godfrey Editions of the 25” OS Series: Selected towns in Great Britain & Ireland are covered by maps showing the extent of urban development in the last decades of the 19th & early 20th century. The plans have been taken from the Ordnance Survey mapping & reprinted at about 15 inches to one mile (1:4, 340).
