The sleek 21st Century Hitachi Class 395 high-speed commuter trains are due to come into service on the South Eastern network in late 2009. Based upon Hitachis successful 'A Train' technology, they are designed to travel the local lines in Kent reaching their optimum speed of 225 km/h on the new CTRL line into London. The aim of the trains will be to drastically reduce the average commuter time from stations on the Kent coast including Folkestone & Ramsgate into London, St. Pancras. Operated by Southeastern trains this new class of EMU will be a major part of the transport communication link during the Olympic Games in 2012 with the train ferrying passengers to & from Stratford International. Working closely with the Hitachi design team this dramatic new model from Hornby will capture the shear elegance & lines of the full size prototype. The Hornby pack will contain 2 Driver Trailer Second Open drive cars (one powered), plus 2 Open Second coaches & with the addition of two extra Open Second coaches available separately, a full size Class 395 can be assembled.
