The great white shark is one of the largest marine predators & has very few competitors. It owes its name to its white belly which stands in stark contrast to its grey back. They are found in all temperate waters around the world, & mainly in shallow water. It has a highly developed sense of hearing & smell, making it a formidable hunter. It measures between 4 & 6 m in length & has an impressive mouth with razor sharp triangular teeth. The white shark is carnivorous & mainly eats large fish such as tuna but also seals, turtles, dolphins & even other species of shark.
