The SIDE VIEW BIRD BOX design offers garden birds a warm and secure place to raise their family but offers the viewer a unique side on view (including the entrance hole) rather than the traditional top down view.The camera, cabling and connections are mounted behind an opaque plastic panel fitted with a small slot for the camera lens to peep through into the nesting chamber. The birdbox is handmade by craftsman at our own workshops. We use only high grade Western Red Cedar (sourced from well managed forests) and follow guidelines suggested by the RSPB and British Trust for Ornithology (BTO). This bird box has a 32mm entrance hole and is suitable for a wide range of garden birds including:Blue TitsCoal TitsMarsh TitsGreat TitsHouse SparrowsYou may read in various publications that the entrance hole must be a particular size to attract a specific species of bird (eg. 25mm for Blue
Tits etc). However, these are purely guidelines and our experience has shown (including consultation with the RSPB for supply of their branded kit) that a 32mm hole will not deter Blue Tits, or any of the other small hole nesting garden birds. Using a 32mm hole can serve to maximise the chances of a pair of birds nesting in the box.The nest box has a small camera compartment to house the camera and connections. A quick release camera mounting bracket is also fitted to hold the camera in the optimum position.The Feeder Cam - What makes this bird camera system so versatile is that if you dont get nesting in the box, or its no longer the breeding season, just remove the roof of the nest box, unclip the camera and transfer it to the Feeder Cam housing. A truly versatile system that can be used all year round!The CameraThis Sony EFFIO CCD Ultra High Resolution 700TVL (TV Line) Camera has been designed specifically for use with flyonthewall.uk.comcamera nest boxes and feeder camera kits. This truly outstanding bird box camera uses an intelligent Sony Effio DSP Chip which operates with a Super Light Sensor to cleverly adjust the image quality to suit its environment. Not only this, the Super Light Sensor also serves to adjust the x10 infrared night vision LEDs to a graduating on/off, gently supplementing loss or gain of natural light levels with an invisible IR. The result of this outstanding technology is that
we can now produce ultra high resolution colour images in full light of day and sharp black and white images at night. This high spec mini camera also houses a highly sensitive microphone so you can hear as well as see what is going on at the birdbox or bird feeder. This great little camera has a 3.6mm lens which produces a 92 degree viewing angle. The lens will have been pre-focused to the correct position but it can very easily be adjusted to suit different applications.The Rest Of The System - Consists of professional x3 core cable (Audio/Video/12vDC) connected to the camera in the nest box at one end, whilst the other end of the cable needs to be routed into your property. The connectors are black, yellow and white. The black one is for power and connects to the supplied 12V DC mains
power adaptor (looks like a mobile phone charger). The remaining yellow (video) and white (audio) connectors can either plug into a spare AV/AUX socket on your TV, video / DVD recorder, or a spare scart socket using the supplied scart adaptor.
