The Defenders of Awesome has quickly become one of the favourites in the Capita line up. Now with a wax infused sintered base & two carbon fibre beams the true twin DOA is a freestyle board that can handle high speeds & big booters. Specification: Profile: Hybrid FK (Reverse, zero, positive, zero, reverse) Running length: 1240 Waist
Width: 25.20 Sidecut radius: 8.00 Setback: Centred Flex (1 soft, 10 stiff): 5.5 (Specification based on the 156cm board) Note: Base graphic colours may vary
Features: The Hybrid FK profile uses reverse, zero & positive camber in a true twin shape. There is positive camber in the middle (starting 5cm outside the inserts), zero camber outside of this & a small reverse camber section at the contact points. Utilising all these profiles in this way provides the pop & stability of a camber profile with the forgiveness & easy turn initiation of reverse camber. Flat Kick is the shape given to the profile of the nose & tail. Most boards have a gradual curve from the contact points to the tip/tail. Capita found that while that works well with a traditional camber profile, it does not work so well with the raised contact points of a reverse camber profile. Flat Kick essentially adds responsiveness & speed to edge-to-edge turning. Made with a single species of poplar grain the RFC Sustainable Core extends from edge to edge & tip to tail. The wood grain has no knots or finger joints either which helps ensure a completely uniform flex pattern throughout the board. In addition they have been re-forestation certified offering a sustainable alternative without sacrificing on performance. Running through the board from just before the nose to just before the tail are 2x 30mm Carbon Fibre Beams. Known for its rigidity & low weight, carbon adds power & response whilst remaining ultra light. Special Blend EVO Tech Fibreglass Configuration is a more environmentally friendly manufacturing process that requires less energy consumption & yields higher technical properties. Sintered bases absorb the highest amount of wax which provides extended periods of high speed riding. The Wax Infused Rotation Sintered Speed Base is used on the top end of the Capita range ensuring you go faster for longer. Freestyle boards that have a camber hybrid profile & a mid flex are just as suited to cruising the resort, holding an edge on steep & hard slopes as they are to pressing out slides on rails, so you don’t have to be the next Dan Brisse to ride one. I’m a big fan of boards with camber underfoot because it makes the board so much livelier. The DOA with its relatively low camber & flat (zero camber) sections outside of it is incredibly forgiving, but it’s still quick when you want to set an edge & nice & stable throughout the turn. This board won’t fail to put a smile on your face. Is it for me? It’s suited to so many riders that the answer is probably yes. Whether you are a one week a year with the lads’ type of snowboarder, a devoted park rider, an intermediate to expert all-mountain kind of guy or are looking for a first board that you won’t grow out of then yeah, it’s the one.
