Urethane Rollbar Basepad – dampening in your binging for a smoother ride Wedgie Is a sloped foot bed that slopes down towards the middle of the board and up towards the nose and tail. It helps keep your legs aligned when standing in a snowboarding stance taking the strain off your knees. It also provides a platform to help boost ollie power, using skateboard design as an influence. Comes supplied with the following Wedgie footbeds so you can customise as you wish: Wedgie 2.5 is the ideal angle for advanced freestyle riders looking for that extra pop. If you are riding a rocker board, you’ll especially appreciate getting some added pop with 2.5. Wedgie 4.0 is a precise angle for those riders looking for the utmost drive and ollie pop. Ideal for those who rock an extra wide stance. Straps: ThinFlex™ Ankle Strap Perfectly contoured, pad-less design provides all the support you need without the fluff. Tool-less ‘spin and set’ centre adjust. Flipside Mount Straps are featured on all of the Infinity chassis bindings, the mount straps provide an easier way to get in your binding as it flips open to hold the ankle strap out of the way. Clever. AstroGlyde LT is a new ratchet lever that looks as good as it functions; the innovative minimalist design is cored out for an ultra lightweight feel and is made from quality aluminium material for smooth gliding on/off movement. 3D ThinGrip™ Toe Strap for better fit and better grip, this new 3D ThinGrip™ offers a new flip-lever tool-less adjust. This unique highback offers the lightweight support and pop of carbon with the smooth dampening of urethane. Discs/hardware: Forged Aluminium Micro Disc is 30% lighter than the standard and aids flex and performance due to the decreased size. Compatible with 2x4 patterns and channel/slot systems.
Now in its second year, Gigi Ruf’s signature binding has been completely redesigned from the base up. With Union’s philosophy of reducing dead zones created by bindings on your board being at the forefront of the redesign. Equipped with Union’s Mini Disks, the Contact Pro is an astonishing 95% free from the board itself. With only 5% of the surface area of the binding in contact with the board, it enables a genuine true flex pattern. New highbacks, toe buckles, toe cups and EVA bushings are all featured too, along with much loved Union trademarks like Magnesium Buckles, lifetime warranty and incredibly lightweight products. Specification: · Designed by Gigi Rüf · Carbon Injected Contact Pro Base- Dupont™ Zytel® ST · Redesigned Contact Pro Asymmetrical Dupont™ Zytel® ST Highback · Multi Density EVA Bushings · Shift-on-the-Fly Forward Lean · Extruded 3D Aluminium Heelcups · 3D Direct-Connect Strap System · Multi-Layer Tapered Strap Core · Injected Magnesium Buckles featuring improved toe buckle for 2014 · All-New Toe Cup Design · Universal Mini Discs · Grade 8.8 Hardware · Lifetime Warranty Base Features: Base plates By offering Lifetime Warranty on all of their bases, Union stand by their Stronger tag line. Like the Contact, the Contact Pro has a Dupont™ Zytel® ST Base, which is already exceptionally strong but the Pro has upgraded carbon injection. 3D Extruded Heelcups use CNC machining to drastically reduce weight, without affecting strength or performance. It is a slow and expensive process, but produces outstanding results. They are also covered by the lifetime warranty. The Contact Pro has Multi Zone Injected EVA Bushings underfoot to dampen vibrations and minimise interference with the natural flex of the board. The Multi Zone refers to having different density of foam across the base so the binding will flex more inwards (towards the other binding) and less towards the tip and tail. Ideal for tweaking those grab tricks but keeping performance high. Straps 3D Direct-Connect Strap System is a multi-layer tapered strap core to evenly distribute pressure. All New Toe Cups have been designed and included in 2014, following a small but significant number of requests from previous years. An Open strap design allows for exact shaping to the toe box of your boots with no pressure points. Injected Magnesium Buckles are roughly 4 times stronger than aluminium, for half the weight. Magnesium buckles resist freezing and catching and look stunning. Improved toe strap buckles help you slip in and out of your bindings with the greatest of ease. Tool-free size adjustment. A massive staff favourite at Bliss Snowboards! Union Custom House (UHC) is a limited edition range of bindings only available at select retailers. Union have combined elements from some their best bindings such as the Force base plate, Team Highback from the Factory and the new Ultra Grip Toe Strap and they’ve given them a Capita graphic. Not only that, these bindings come in a special edition presentation box with a copy of Capita Defenders of Awesome 2: Stay Bad Ass DVD and Capita USB memory stick. Specification: • Stage IV Force Baseplates • Extruded 3D Aluminium Heelcups • Dual Density EVA Bushing • Sonic Fused Ankle Strap • Ultra Grip Toe Straps • Magnesium Buckles • Direct-Connect Tool Free Adjustment • Team Highbacks • Shift On The Fly Forward Lean • All new binding Disks • Grade 8.8 hardware Features Base/Heelcups Stage IV Force Baseplates are the latest incarnation of Union’s trademark blended nylon baseplate material. Even stronger, yet still incredibly light. 3D heelcups are extruded from a single block of aluminium. It’s not the cheapest method, but it’s the best process available on Aluminium heelcups, outstanding strength and longevity. Dual Density EVA bushing is multi-layer foam padding that sits between your board and your baseplates. It absorbs vibration and shocks, resulting in a silky smooth, comfy ride from first tracks to last chair. Straps SonicFused Ankle Straps are asymmetric, 3D shaped ankle straps, constructed using multiple layers of composite materials fused together. This enables intricate profiling, while drastically reducing the required stitching, resulting in a great fit, with exceptional durability. Ultra Grip Toe Straps are compatible with over, or in front of the boot operation. New for this season is an upgraded anti-slip material, to ensure that where you tighten them down, is where they will stay until you take them off. 3D Direct-Connect Tool Free Adjustment allows quick and easy tool free adjustment of your ankle and toe strap position while on the hill. Magnesium Buckles do not freeze up in the cold, they are incredibly strong and light, and they look awesome too. Highback Tried and true, the symmetrical Team Highback is a favourite of team riders like Torstein Horgmo. Shift On The Fly Forward Lean allows for tool free forward-lean adjustment. Discs All New Binding Disks are compatible with 4x4 and Burton’s Channel system. Grade 8.8 Hardware is a nice touch. The majority of snowboard binding hardware uses ‘standard’ steel. In engineering terms, this would be described as ‘mild’ or low tensile steel, as it generally measures 4.6 on a Rockwell scale. Union use ‘High Tensile’ steel that measures 8.8 on a Rockwell scale. Bigger the number, the less chance of breaking/stripping/rounding your hardware. Bonus Comes in a display box with Capita Defenders of Awesome 2: Stay Bad Ass DVD and Capita USB memory sick. An absolute peach of a binding. Gigu Ruf’s pro binding has been stripped of even more weight over previous versions, thanks partly to the new Duraflex baseplate material. All of the usual Union awesomeness is features, 3d Aluminium heelcups, Multizone Contact Pro Highbacks and Mag buckles come together to create an outstanding binding that will offer the most hardened rider with the support they need. 5% contact area with your snowboard results in not only a great surfy feel in your bindings, but will make your snowboard flex in a truer fashion to enhance the performance of your whole setup. The Contact is a binding aimed at laid back freestyle riders. It features a fairly soft baseplate, with reduced contact with your snowboard (hence ‘Contact’). In return this creates a really mellow, natural flex to your entire setup. Great for hitting rails, and for buttery smoothness. 2014 is the first complete season that Travis Rice will be riding Union bindings, having chosen to ride for them half way through 2013. Obviously all equipment choices are personal, but Travis Rice’s decision to ride Union certainly puts them in the front spot for the “Who make the best bindings?” question that we are frequently asked here at Bliss Snowboards. After designing outstanding bindings for 10 years, Union have pulled out all the stops with this binding, and even invented some new ones to pull out. Excellent features that we are used to from Union, like ultra strong blended nylon baseplates, beautiful injected magnesium buckles and highly adjustable positioning fades into the background behind the big showstopper that is the Forged Carbon highbacks. The Ultra is an unbelievable piece of kit, pushing the upper boundaries of binding design. Forged carbon is waaaay lighter than any other highback material, and is crazy strong. Coupled with the tiny contact patch of the binding on the board, and you have one hell of a binding with unrivalled response and board feel. Highback: Forged Carbon Highbacks is new for this year to the snowboard industry. Pioneered primarily by Lamborghini over the last 3 or 4 years, Forged carbon is a subtly different beast to the carbon we’re used to seeing in our winter sports tech. In very basic terms, forged carbon uses particles, rather than weaves of fibres. This allows significantly more complex shapes to be manufactured, and eliminates some of the weaknesses of traditional carbon fibre. Forged Carbon can be drilled without sacrificing the surrounding area, so less reinforcement is required, meaning less material = less weight, less cost and a prettier finished product. This is not a complete game changer, but it’s a significant refinement in the potential design of carbon components. Discs/hardware: Minidisk bind

Discs/hardware: All New Binding Disks are compatible with 4x4 and Burton’s Channel system. The Force is a legend in its own right. It’s been around for 10 years, and will probably be around for 10 more. It is the binding that really launched Union’s ethos of straightforward, durable high performing snowboard bindings. By keeping the construction relatively simple, Union have focused on using the most suitable materials and designs available. Seasonaires use them, instructors use them, leisure riders use them, freeriders use them, jibbers use them….. You get the idea. With no prejudice, the Force and the Mission (Burton) are probably the two most broadly usable bindings on the market. Is
The binding that helped Union make their name, and still the best selling in the range. The anodizing process reinforces the already bombproof material with another 30% strength. They are also covered by the lifetime warranty. The Force has Injected EVA Bushings underfoot to dampen vibrations and minimise interference with the natural flex of the board. Straps 3D Direct-Connect Strap System is easy and comfortable to use and enter/exit. The strap itself features a multi-layer tapered strap core to evenly distribute pressure. Highbacks Multizone Highbacks taper in thickness toward the top of the binding. This allows more free movement and flex at the top of your highback, while becoming gradually stiffer as you move toward the base of the highback. This saves weight and also makes for a very comfortable, yet supportive binding. Shift on the fly forward lean for quick on the hill adjust. The Flite (or ‘very’ ahem, lite) is extremely light, comfortable and a great freestyle binding. Made for slaying the park, the fairly soft Flite baseplates, and fusion highbacks, will offer you the flexibility and compliance that you need when sliding rails and spinning off kickers. Pop these on a rocker/hybrid board, crank the stance wiiiiide and stomp every feature on every run (talent not withstanding….) Specification: • Dupont Zytel ST Baseplates • 3d Heelcups • EVA Bushing • Contoured Ankle Straps • All new open Toe Straps • Injected Aluminium Buckles • Tool Free Ankle Strap Adjustment • Flite Fusion Highbacks • All New Universal Binding Disks • Grade 8.8 hardware Base/Heelcups Dupont Zytel ST Baseplates are constructed of an extremely light blended nylon material. Super strong, yet still incredibly light. They do not become brittle at low (mountain) temperatures, and provide a really usable balance of stiffness (response) and compliance (comfort) 3D Heelcups are extruded from a single block of aluminium. It’s not the cheapest method, but it’s the best process available on Aluminium heelcups, outstanding strength and longevity. EVA Bushing is multi-layer foam padding that sits between your board and your baseplates. It absorbs vibration and shocks, resulting in a silky smooth, comfy ride from first tracks to last chair. Straps: Contoured Ankle Straps are ergonomically shaped. These comfortably match the profile of your snowboard boot, and when set up correctly using tool free strap adjustment, reduce pinch or pressure points. Open Toe Straps are new for 2014/15. One of the very few criticisms that Union bindings have received over the years, are with the shaping of the toe straps on some models. New for 2014/15 is an improved toe strap profile. Injected Aluminium Buckles are strong and light, and don’t jam up in the cold. Tool Free Ankle Strap Adjustment allows quick and easy adjustment of your ankle strap position while on the hill. Highback: Flite Fusion Highbacks feature multizone flex, i.e. stiffer (and thicker) at the bottom of the highback, where the power is transferred, and flexible and compliant at the top. They also feature an asymmetric flex patter, with the highbacks being stiffer toward either end of your snowboard. This gives you improved control for butters, ollies and spin tricks, without being brutally stiff and uncomfortable on the inside edge, where support is not really necessary. Discs/hardware: All New Binding Disks are compatible with 4x2, 4x4 and Burton’s Channel system. Grade 8.8 Hardware is a nice touch. The majority of snowboard binding hardware uses ‘standard’ steel. It’s probably too soft for heavier/harder riders, and not really ideal f

The Flite Pro looks like a much higher priced binding. The incredible highbacks, superlight Dupont Zytel nylon and Extruded Aluminium heelcups all come together to create an outstanding binding. Probably better suited to all mountain freestyle than all out freeride, this binding can, nevertheless ride anything well, and in comfort. Highback: Flite Pro Highbacks are out of place on a binding that costs less than £150. Based on the original Contact Pro highback from 2012 (designed by Gig Ruf), they are super light thanks to the (almost excessive) cut outs. I appreciate that Union are offering premium quality products, at a price point that a retail assistant can afford! I used these bindings extensively at last year’s ‘Snowboard Spring Break’ and loved them so much, I will be buying a pair for myself for the upcoming season. Is it for me? If you are after a super plush, comfy binding, that can handle the odd steep and deep.&n
Union are obviously keen to get as many of us riding Flite Pro’s as possible. This is the only explanation why they are fitting Highbacks from last year’s Contact Pro on a £145 binding. There are some great features not often found on a binding at this price point. 3D tapered straps, Extruded Aluminium Heelcups and dual density EVA bushings are not really supposed to be on bindings that cost less than £150. Good for you, good for us, and good for them. The features found on the unisex Rhythm binding is impressive. 3D shaped straps, tool free adjustment and canted footbeds are very much a mainstay of mid-level bindings and above. To find these on a binding barely over £100 is a fantastic achievement. Granted, you are unlikely to nail your first back 9’ on these, but getting those turns linked and practicing your switch riding is where these bindings will shine. Light, great value, great to look at, what’s not to like. Specification: • Zone Baseplate • Composite 30% • Adjustable Toe Ramps • Universal Discs • IMS • Freeframe Highbacks • Full EVA Padding • Canted Footbeds!!! • 3D Supreme Ankle Straps • Lock-In Toe Strap • Tool Free Strap Adjustment • Composite Buckles • Flex 3 Features: Base/Heelcups Zone Baseplates are the ‘bread n butter’ baseplates from Salomon. Strong and highly adjustable. Composite 30% Is a great balance of lightweight and strength. Stiffer than entry level plastic, but with enough compliance to ride all day. Adjustable Toe Ramps (or ‘gas pedal’) allows you to dial out the gap often found under the between your toes, and your bindings. Full EVA Footbeds will provide good all day comfort. Straps: 3D Supreme Ankle Straps are 3D contoured, with soft padding to create an ankle strap that will remain comfortable without pressure points. Lock-In Toe Strap keeps your toe box locked in, matching the contour of your boots exactly. Highback: FreeFrame Highbacks are super lightweight, with tool free adjustment and ergonomic shaping. HB Filter is Salomon’s proprietary highback cushioning material, designed to reduce chatter and subsequent leg fatigue. Discs/hardware: Composite Buckles feature the same 3D geometry as the premium Aluminium versions, which, combined with the triple hinge design, makes buckling down a breeze. Universal Discs will fit any snowboard currently on the market. 2x4, 4x4 3D, The Channel. Whatever you ride, these will fit. IMS or ‘Integrated Mounting System’ is awesome. It keeps your bolts secured to your discs, for super easy installation, and to eliminate the moment of dread each year when you pull out your gear and are missing a binding bolt/washer. Good work guys, good work. The Rhythm may be the best value for money binding we’ve stocked here at Bliss Snowboards. There are cheaper bindings available, but the features and build quality on the Rhythm is astonishing at this price point. A genuinely fantastic first set-up binding. Soft and forgiving enough to progress with confidence, but at a very reasonable cost. Is it for me? If you are after your first set of bindings, perhaps you’ve been renting for the first trip or two, and you’re ready for your own gear. There is still plenty of scope to grow (as a rider) in these bindings, particularly for the lighter snowboarder, or those focusing more on the freestyle side. &
The Genesis is a high end binding, there’s no getting away from that pricetag. However, when we start to look at the binding you are getting, it’s clear to see where the money goes. Incredible lightness and supreme comfort is the fruit of Burton’s labour on these. Buckles, straps, highbacks and Heelcups have all been designed to within an inch of their existence to create the ultimate, lightweight, comfortable binding. Stiff enough for dropping into couloirs, soft enough for sliding rails. 18% Short Glass/Nylon Composite has a more forgiving flex than some of Burton’s stiffer baseplate and highback materials, making it ideal for all day riding, particularly for lighter/laid back riders. Sliding rails, general jibbing and fluid riding is the order of the day with these bindings. Loose, never felt so controlled The Hinge is a design exclusive to Burton EST bindings. By articulating the binding at the points of contact with the board, they allow a more forgiving, and natural range of movement of your foot in your binding. The Hinge will add fluidity to your setup, and allow you to ride longer, harder and further. Lifetime Baseplate Guarantee covering manufacturer defects for life. It’s rare to see a Burton baseplate fail, but it’s comforting to know that their quibble free replacement will be on your board before you can say ‘Did you get that on film?’ Anatomical Left and Right Baseplates is a more costly way to design and manufacture a snowboard binding, but your left and right feet are not the same, so why shouldn’t your baseplates match your feet? Straps: HammockStrap ankle straps feature a stitchless mesh designed to perfectly match the contour of your boots without pinch points. A nylon cross spline adds response and durability. Lightweight Gettagrip Capstraps are super lightweight EVA toe straps, with 3D shaping for the ultimate fit. They can be used as Cap straps or Toe Straps (does anyone still ride like that?). Burton Cap Straps are some of the most universally compatible shapes, and fit perfectly over almost every boot on the market. Double Take Buckles feature a diagonal track on top and a straight track on the bottom sides of your binding ladders. This doubles the locking area, and significantly reduces the chance of your bindings working themselves loose. It also makes for easier entry as the diagonal structure of the ladder encourages the ladder to be ‘sucked in’ to the buckle. Highback: Kickback Hammock highbacks feature a secondary, sprung highback piece. This allows the inner, flexible ‘hammock’ to cradle the re

Good work guys, good work. The District is quite a specialist bit of kit. Not too showy to look at, but some nice features in all the right places. As well as the two-stage flex in the highback, I really like how the Infinity Chassis has precision size adjust, which allows you to slide the foot bed to get not only a really good fit, but also to help to centre your bindings on your board. Something I’m particularly fussy about. Another advantage of Ride bindings is the small footprint that you get from having a chassis made of Aluminium rather than plastic. This (combined with the micro-disc) means that your bindings don’t interfere so much with the natural flex of your board. Is it for me? The Defender is a new addition to Salomon’s binding line-up for 2014/15. Designed around the proprietary Shadow Fit baseplate/highback, the Defender offers outstanding support and performance. Fluid, but firm. Specification: • Shadow Fit Baseplate • Crossbow • Composite 45% • Adjustable Toe Ramps • Universal Discs • IMS • Defender Highbacks • SCS + Full EVA Padding • Canted Footbeds • 3D Asymmetric Supreme Ankle Straps • Locked-Up Toe Strap • MicroMax Strap Adjustment • PowerGlide Aluminium Buckles • Flex 7 Features: Base/Heelcups Shadow Fit Baseplates feature a heel cup design not found on any other bindings. A flexible loop, creates the heel cup of the baseplate, supported (and adjusted) by a Kevlar Quickwire to add strength and stiffness. The combination creates a stiff, but flexible lightweight binding with great adjustability. Crossbow allows the Kevlar Quickwire to be under greater tension. This increases the power and response, from the already fantastic Shadow Fit Baseplates Composite 45% Baseplates are pretty stiff. Hard charging/heavier riders will appreciate the added response. Adjustable Toe Ramps (or ‘gas pedal’) allows you to dial out the gap often found under the between your toes, and your bindings. SCS + Full EVA is Salomon’s highest level of cushioning and shock absorption. 2 Degree Canted Footbeds naturally follow the angle of your feet/legs, to provide a significantly more comfortable ride than without. Also improves ollies and stability on landings. Straps: 3D Asymetric Supreme Ankle Straps are (as the name suggests) asymmetric, for the most accurate match to your snowboard boot. 3D contouring, and soft padding finish off the ideal all day comfort ankle strap. Locked-Up Toe Straps completely envelope the toe box of any snowboard boot to ensure that your toes stay put. Highback: Defender Highbacks are an asymmetric, ergonomic profile, with reinforced nylon for added response and control. Highly adjustable thanks to Salomon’s Shadow fit technology. This is Salomon’s top end nylon highback. HB Filter is Salomon’s proprietary highback cushioning material, designed to reduce chatter and subsequent leg fatigue. Discs/hardware: PowerGlide Aluminium Buckles are 3D geometry moulded for a lightweight, quick and powerful ratchet with buttery smooth action. The Defender is a pretty nifty bit of kit. The Shadow Fit design ticks a lot of boxes, and might well be a very good solution to ov
The Mission is pretty much the benchmark all mountain, resort binding. With over 10 years of product refinement, it remains one of the go to bindings for any shop staff across the globe. Stiff enough for dropping into couloirs, soft enough for sliding rails. Straps: ReactStraps are 3D shaped ankle straps, designed to match the contour of any snowboard boot. GettaGrip Capstraps feature 3D shaping for the ultimate fit. They are constructed from ‘Grip Fit’ rubber for excellent retention and can be used as Cap straps or Toe Straps (does anyone still ride like that?). Burton Cap Straps are some of the most universally compatible shapes, and fit perfectly over almost every boot on the market.
