- copper (CU) & aluminium/copper hybrid (ALCU). Both coolers are identical except that the CU version is heavier & offers better cooling thanks to the superior conduction of copper versus aluminium. In practice this equates to a lower CPU running temperature of around 3°C for a high-end system. If you crave the lowest possible CPU temperature then we suggest you purchase the CU version, but otherwise the ALCU version still offers excellent performance & is less expensive. Motherboard cooling As with all Zalman's 7000 series coolers, the unique design of the product allows not only the processor to be cooled, but also its surrounding components as shown on the image below. Important components such as the Northbridge chip, RAM, VGA & FET circuitry receive a good share of the cooler's airflow, which increases their reliability & lifespan. Compatibility considerations Socket 775-based motherboards will need to be removed from the chassis to be able to install the CNPS7500. Zalman have updated their premium low-profile cooler, CNPS8000A. The new CNPS8000B now has a 92mm PWM fan & offers better performance than its predecessor. Because CPUs are getting hotter & hotter, we have seen heatsinks getting bigger & bigger to cope with the cooling demands. The problem with very large heatsinks is that they sometimes cannot be used in a lower profile chassis where space is at a premium. It does this with the aid of four C-shaped heatpipes that transfer the heat from the copper base to the top edge of the fins. This allows the whole heatsink to be used more efficiently. Attached above the heatsink is a legendary Zalman 92mm PWM fan which has been designed to vary its speed depending on the temperature of the CPU. The minimum noise is only 20 d BA, but when the CPU is pushed to its limit, the fan speed can increase to provide more cooling. Of course this works in reverse; the fan speed will decrease as the temperature of the CPU drops. This method gives the user piece of mind knowing that when the CPU needs it, extra cooling is provided.

Zalman FX100 Ultimate Fanless CPU Cooler Zalmans innovative new FX100 CPU cooler is designed to utilise natural convection where the heatsink passively transfers the heat to its surroundings. The hot air is then exhausted out of the chassis with the help of chassis fans or via natural convection through the top of a suitable case.
