D-Links Green Ethernet switches include intelligent energy-saving features to detect if & how each port is being used, & adjust the power accordingly. Each switch contains a chip to check the status of each port. If no cable is linked, or a connected device is switched off, the chip detects that no power is required & puts the port into sleep mode. The chip will also assess the power needs of a port according to the proximity of the connected device. So while a port linked via a 100 metre cable may require full power, a port using a 10 metre cable will be allocated significantly less power. D-Link Green Ethernet for Schools offers a range of smart & unmanaged switches to match your needs.
