Every year on Ardbeg day the distillery Ardbeg releases a special edition whisky to commemorate the day. Although this whisky was released in a World Cup year the name & style have nothing to do with this, as the creator Dr Bill Lumsden wanted to create a whisky like a basket of soft fruits hence the green & gold. This whisky is much softer than the popular Alligator, indeed it is softer than many of Ardbeg's whiskies. Ardbeg is situated on the southern edge of Islay in the Inner Hebrides, it has been producing whisky since 1798 though production was halted in 1981. Ardbeg resumed prodcution in 1998 after being bought by Glenmorangie who changed its focus from producing whisky for blends to producing its own unique single malts. Ardbeg is known for being very peaty in taste & has won numerous medals since it resumed production including a number of best whisky awards. Nose: Dark chocolate, peat, vanilla, oak & hints of pepper Taste: Creamy taste, dark chocolate, fruits, coffee & light peat which is unusal for an Ardbeg ...

This was created as a replacement for the much loved 1990 Airigh nam Beist, meaning there is a lot expected from it. It takes its name from a famous whirlpool that lies to the north of Islay, that gets its name from the Viking prince breacan, who perished their proving his love to the daughter of the Lord of the Isles. It is truly one of the most flavourful whiskies there is, as is they all got brought together into one massive whirlpool of flavour. On the nose, you encounter a deep & turbulent force of Corryvreckan, swirl the glass & be exposed to the tarry ropes, creosote & linseed oil. As you continue to smell, you will discover the fruity smell rising from the depths of the glass. On the palate, this whirlpool named whisky is deep & peppery, bombarding the tongue with intense tastes & textures. As you descend deeper into the glass you will uncover the fruity essence followed by rich coffee, chocolate & bitter almonds. The finish is long & deep with lingering flavours of the black coffee, sweet dark chocolate & the tangy dark cherries. A complex & superb journey into the world of the Corryvreckan. ...

This is the brand new whisky made from the master distillers at Ardbeg. Ardbeg Galileo was named Galileo after the hugely influential Italian astronomer, physicist & philosopher. It has been aged for 12 years in ex marsala wine casks from Sicily & then balanced with first filled ex bourbon casks so distillation took place in 1999. The new product, Ardbeg Galileo, has had a pretty radical journey to get from Ardbeg to our site. Tthe press release was originally held at the National Space Centre in Leicester. It was held here to celebrate the company's new adventure into the final frontier. Ardbeg were approached by the NSC to supply some of their new creation together with some cask shavings that would be sent up to the National Space Centre to see what, if anything, happens to the whisky & its flavour from the effects of zero-gravity. So Ardbeg have now done what so many whiskies tried in the past, to reach space… well maybe no other whisky has attempted it, but its still one small step for Ardbeg, & one giant leap for Whisky-kind! ...

Ardbeg Blasda Whisky 70cl

Ardbeg Blasda is an experiment from the people of Ardbeg. It got its name from the Galic meaning of the word Blasda, which means Sweet and delicious. Some people say that they are the kings of making peated whisky, so they took it upon themselves to create a whisky that wasn't as peated as their others. The Blasda has a peated level of 8ppm compared to the 10 year old which has a peated level of 50 ppm, ppm stand for phenol in parts per million. They invented this lower peated whisky to attract none peat whisky drinkers to a whole new style of whisky. It is an introduction for them to experience the difference in flavour on a small level, rather than diving right in and drinking a bottle of the ardbeg 10 yo. It is a very subtle and flavourful whisky full of fruity flavour and floral
aromas. A great introduction to peated whisky and we believe the experiment paid off.
