Scandinavian homeware brand Menu have teamed up with the world renowned design firm Design by US to bring you this unique range of exotic crockery. Raw Diamond cups are a combination of a faceted matt surface on the exterior & a contrasting sparkling glaze on the interior. The rough exterior is symbolic of raw uncut diamonds & the interior is home to a smooth colourful surface inspired by floral tattoos, rococco patterns & Japanese flower motives. Architect Rasmus Larsson is Creative Director & founder of Design by Us & he describes his inspiration for Raw Diamonds by US: “ We wanted to create a totally new look for a classic set of crockery: Vase, cups, platter & bowl – with a design DNA that would not be instantly readable.” “ We have struggled with the uncut element, which is emphasized by the matte surface. Send us your ideas & we will be happy to advise. Whenever possible, we source our wood from industrial offcuts, excess stocks & reclaim sources in the UK. All solid timber can change as it ages, & you should protect your product from constant changes in temperature & humidity. We apply a simple oil finish, which gives a very pleasant smooth matt sheen to the wood, & no lacquers or varnishes to flake off over time. The wood can be cleaned with a damp cloth, & recoated with oil should it be needed (recommended once or twice a year) to maintain the finish. Please note that the colour & figuring of wood varies quite a lot, & even similar pieces can develop differently during oiling. The images should therefore be used as a guide only: the finish you recieve may be a little lighter or darker. For delivery, we wrap each product in a combination of fabric, paper, bubblewrap & cardboard, according to what is needed to protect each item.
