Another amazing jacquard, inspired by advances in the technology - introducing a clear detailed element as part of the weave in a completely different colour scheme to the fabric ground. And also by modernism, the image recalls Warhol perhaps and others who extended classic print techniques in the first half of the 20th century. A vivid strawberry, redolent of all that is welcome about Spring and Summer is woven boldly on a fine blue and white horizontal stripe ground. Masterpiece! With a single button cuff - style we refer to as 'Jagger', classic collar, pure cotton sophisticated Jacquard shirt in an intelligent, regular tailored fit. />
A short tentacled, rather cute octopus emerges from the Dobby loom. An advanced use of the Dobby technique in which the image is rendered as part of the weave. Dobby is not as versatile as Jacquard in the production of non-geometric motifs but gives a bit of extra texture in the weave resulting here in a high quality garment with an added, difficult to accomplish, but endearing touch of humour. Single button cuff Jagger.
This is fun. A plain blue on white striped shirt with a twist, literally. Some of the stripes have decided to turn into undulating cables with light bulbs on the end. There is a little drop shadow going on under the bulbs to give the illusion of depth. A subtle and charming design perfectly serviceable for the office, but with a dash of humour and intrigue. Pure cotton shirt, single button cuff />
'Cooper' double cuff light, Summery shirt in a soft pink stripe, light textured weave, lined at the collar, cuff and plaquet with the wonderful Liberty 'Meadow' exuberant floral study. Cooper has a cutaway collar, whereas 'Jagger' and 'Moore' styles have a classic collar.
One of my increasingly advanced jacquards, approaching a synthesis of textural and visual modes, in which the design is rendered into the very weave. This one has pre-war single seat racing cars, possibly ERA (English Racing Automobiles) models. The Italians were more curvaceous at the front. The technology on display here is impressive. I mean the shirt, not the cars. We have achieved amazing details and a soft look, resembling a pencil drawing. For fans of a classic age of motor racing or just those who appreciate fine craftsmanship and striking design. 'Jagger' single button cuff. />
A cool, light jacket in pure linen, that can also serve as a shirt. Lapel style collar, herringbone. A beautiful soft hand feel and relaxed drape. Wear open for easy, distinctive style, or buttoned for a slightly more formal look. Two shallow vents to the rear, bottom button hole stitched in contrast, pockets. "Simplify and add lightness"
