A complex engineered
bracelet with three
distinct elements - a
slinky leather cord in
black, a woven blue
leather braid and a bead
string of unusual dark
blue tigerseye and
romantic, mystical
chalcedony - Eärendil
had a scabbard made out
of it. It's designed to
produce the layering
effect of several
bracelets, which is so
effective, but in one
piece. The three
components meet at a
chunky, engineered
side-fastening finding,
or clasp which is laser
branded 'Simon Carter' on
top. A wonderful,
inspired piece bringing
together a number of
proven approaches in
bracelet design.

A medium wide woven
leather bracelet in a
rich brown tapestry.
Slightly different brown
tones have been used in
the weaving to give a
variation in the overall
effect. The brushed
stainless, laser branded
clasp is magnetic - it
simply pulls apart. The
magnets are strong which
will keep the bracelet
secure, but putting it
on and taking it off are
easy, with no fiddly
catches or hooks to worry
about. The bracelet is
approximately 1cm wide,
pretty robust in
construction with a nice
tensile but supple
feeling and very

Labradorite is such an
intriguing material. As
you turn the beads in
light they form intense
spots of glowing blue
going from an icy pale
aqua, to bright cobalt
that seem to hover just
within the stone. It may
also refract a kind of
copper or rose gold
depending on the specific
natural mineral
composition of the bead.

I am extremely pleased
with this piece. Skull
bead bracelet with iron
pyrites beads. The
pyrites (iron sulfide)
beads have conspicuous
weight and gravitas -
very masculine. The
slightly saturnine lustre
of the beads, with their
'old gold' colouration
pairs absolutely
beautifully with the
blackened skull sporting
its sharp, sparkling
genuine Swarovski 'black
diamond' crystals. This
turned out well. Very
cool.

I am very pleased with
the way this has turned
out. A purely sculptural
form, cast in metal,
having certain hints of
eastern decorative
design, is placed four
times within sodalite
beads. Sodalite is such
an intriguing mineral and
I have exploited its
natural range - going
from a deep ultramarine
to a limpid sky blue, to
an almost grey. Sometimes
the entire spread of hues
is present in one bead.
This all works, well. My
favourite jewellery piece
of the season.
