Hiding in the palm fronds and trees, the hidden surfer is waiting for the rip wave. There’s an abstract quality to this design that I really like. It works well at a distance, where the colours blend and merge more. But close up and the attention to detail becomes clearer. In our ‘Jagger’ block with single cuff button and simpler placket for a more informal feel.
There’s more than a slight 1950’s feel to this shirt, with its muted colours of a desert scene. Stylized cacti mix it with strange road signs on an imaginary highway to nowhere. The cutaway Hawaiian collar adds to the period feel and with short sleeves and top pocket, this is the perfect barbeque and holiday shirt. Made from Liberty tana Lawn fabric for softness and durability.
There’s a veritable menagerie of brightly plumed birds here. The rich indigo ground colour makes them pop out all the more. Parrots, parakeets and blue flamingos give the shirt an exotic feel but the colours make it work with any wardrobe staple. There’s a rather knowing, arch look to some of the birds….what have they been up to?
This wonderful design is filled with flower-rabbits, mystical dog-squirrels and delicate trailing plants. Printed in Italy on 100% cotton, the surface has been treated to give a soft brushed feel. Ideal under a linen jacket with teal chinos.
All is not as it first seems. Paisley camels shelter under lemon trees while flamingos dance with horses and giant white dragonflies swoop down. The sprinkle of lemons really lifts the design up from the rich dark colours
These ancient plants frequently turn up in fossils. There’s something about their delicacy and the way the fronds catch a breeze. This shirt uses a deep teal/blue background and the ferns are mixed in with other forest plants
Shades of blue printed on an open Oxford fabric to give a classic feel. It’s called button’s but there’s an ambiguity here…they could be Georgian tea saucers, or Chinese pottery marks. The overall effect is of a simpler, geometric motif that will work with anything.
This is one of my Summer 2021 favourites. I love the almost abstract design of the little sailboats and they way that the all crowd in together to give such a cheerful effect. A happy shirt. Short sleeved with a top pocket.
“I’m sending out an SOS…..a message in a bottle”….the words of Sting immortalised in one of my new season shirts. Hundreds of empty wine bottles have washed up on this fabric; creating a neatly ordered design from the chaos. Look carefully and you’ll see that some have words in them….’Dream’….’Secret’…..’Journey’….Whether you love a glass of wine or can imagine yourself on a surreal island beach, this shirt is just the job for summer. Pair with my navy chinos and bring on the sunshine. In our ’Jagger’ block with single cuff button and simpler placket for a more informal feel.
Over the years, I have become known for having a paisley or two in the range. This doesn’t disappoint. It fills the fabric without overpowering and the scale is bold but very wearable. Team it with one of my shackets for an easy weekend look.
This rich, floral design that speaks of Florentine palazzos and Borgia sumptuousness. Pair with a velvet jacket for a touch of the flamboyant. 100% cotton made in Portugal.
Periwinkle anyone? Seahorse perhaps? Coral and lobster mix it with sea bass and starfish in this charming design. I like the small scale of it. There’s a neatness in the pattern that makes it almost abstract. The many colours make it perfect with a linen jacket and how about a pair of my orange chinos? Bring out your inner ‘fruit de mer’ and serve this shirt with a glass of chilled Chablis…
Here’s another beautiful design from Liberty’s design studio. This colourful short sleeve design, and has a clever use of gold and greens making it a truly versatile design. Made from Liberty’s ‘Tana Lawn’ fabric, this super soft cotton will age perfectly.
A spot of Rousseau, anyone? I spy toucans and tigers lurking in this brilliantly bold design. All the sounds and colours of a jungle are here, and this statement shirt is perfect teamed with a plain linen blazer. Go on. Bring out your inner Fauvist!
