This is derived from a large design called ‘Revival’ by Liberty of London. They’ve taken this stylised flower and overlapped it to create a neat geometric pattern. Printed in Italy on 100% ‘Tana Lawn’ fabric
You can rely on Liberty for a cracker of a Paisley and they don’t disappoint here. The scale and texturing are spot on and produce a rich effect. The shades of blue are enhanced with details in grey and make this a very wearable shirt.
Originally designed in 1908, this Arts and Crafts design is more sophisticated and complex than it first appears and has recently been reworked. From Liberty of London, the dense foliage would be overpowering in the hands of less skilled artisans. By working with tonal blues on a white ground, there’s a subtlety here that makes this a very versatile pattern. From a distance it’s almost abstract. Printed in Italy on 100% Tana Lawn cotton.
Here’s another beautiful design from Liberty’s design studio. There’s more than a hint of 1970’s record sleeve design, and the clever use of blues and greens makes this a truly versatile design. Made from Liberty’s ‘Tana Lawn’ fabric, this super soft cotton will age perfectly.
What a difference re-sizing and recolouring design can make. This is the ‘Honey, I shrunk the pattern’ version of Stately Bouquet, with the flowers in different hues. More vibrant with less white space around the flowers, blue is the dominant colour making this so good with almost everything in your wardrobe. Made in Italy from 100% Liberty Tana Lawn cotton.
This design was commissioned by Liberty of London from Japanese artist Nana Shiomi. It is a traditional ukiyo-e, and it clearly uses the traditional tonal texture as a backdrop for the beautiful jumping fish. There is so much movement here; the foaming waves; the leaping fish. Even the way the eye travels up the design is deliberate and masterful. Printed on 100% Tana Lawn in Italy by Liberty of London.
Trust Liberty to come up with such a lovely design. Perfectly coloured and giving an almost abstract feel, you can almost smell the heady scent of so many beautiful flowers. The pastel treatment knocks back the short to create a timeless and charming classic floral. Perfect with light chinos.
Think casual weekend house party at Chatsworth; the under gardener has just brought in a fresh bouquet to stand in the hall to greet the guests. There’s striped tulips, dahlias and lilies arranged in an abundance and generosity of colour. Liberty of London have captured this so well, printed in Italy on their super fine 100% cotton Tana Lawn.
Irises, poppies and daisies give Felda a true wild meadow feel. The informal watercolour effect could be taken from the painting book of a gentleman of leisure. This is one of my favourites this season. The softness of the colours and variety of tones make is superbly versatile from a wedding to an afternoon in the pub garden…..
Another glass of Muscadet please! This shirt shouts summer. It seems inspired by watercolour sketches painted in the shimmering Cap Ferat sun. I like the trail of bougainvillaea running through, and the lightness of touch with the little boats. A new design from Liberty produced on their lightweight Italian Tana Lawn fabric.
