The Côtes du Marmandais are situated only 70km south of Bordeaux but classified as a South-West appellation. The wines are usually a blend of the classic Bordeaux varities but also include small percentages of local grapes such as Abouriou, as this one does. Lots of ripe, brambly fruit with spicy notes & a firm yet balanced finish. Tannins are fairly robust but not bitter & length is fairly long. Drink with lean but rich dark meat or goat's cheese, this wine will reward drinkers over the next 5 years.
