We’ve sold this wine for thirty years – & for that whole time it’s been a bestseller. Why’s it so popular? White Burgundy is a go-to for Chardonnay drinkers, & the Mâconnais in particular offers great value. Unlike the northern Côtes, the southern part of Burgundy doesn’t have a formalised vineyard hierarchy system. So the wines tend to be a bit more wallet-friendly. Not to mention, Lugny is one of the best regarded villages in the Mâcon, & Latour one of the most famous houses. Honeyed. Peachy. Crisp. A dream with salty finger foods or a classic Sunday roast chicken. It’s proof that sometimes it pays to stick with the old favourites. ...

The Côte Chalonnaise was once referred to as the 'Région de Mercurey', which shows how important this famous village is. Aged for 8 months in oak barrels, this is a classical expression of Mercurey. A refined & luscious Pinot Noir, this has bright red berry flavours, hints of earthy minerality & fine-grained tannins. ...

Chteau de Minuty is located on the St Tropez Peninsular, with its vineyards virtually overlooking the Mediterranean. This rose is quintessential of the local style, with the blend employing the little-known Tibouren grape, a variety grown almost exclusively in Provence. Pale honeysuckle pink, & offering a clean nose of citrus fruit, offset by subtle floral & candied notes. Fresh acidity makes for an incisive & lively palate, with a rounded feel. Partner with the delicate flavours of fresh shellfish, or with a mozzarella & sun-ripened tomato salad. ...

This Domaine only began commercial production in 1967, although it had been owned for 6 generations by the same family of winemakers. Now headed by 7th generation winemaker Christophe Thibert & his sister, Sandrine, who have produced estate-bottled wines since 1991. A fruit-driven white Burgundy, with an emphasis on crisp citrus flavours, & a touch of minerality. Only 10% of the blend is matured in oak, adding a subtle hint of extra complexity & texture. At its best with delicate white fish dishes, such as poached salmon or baked cod. ...

Now totalling 50 hectares of vines, the domaine makes a range of good value Burgundies, under winemaker Mikaël Marillier, son of the previous owners, Jean-Pierre & Martine Marillier. A very clean & fruity white, with delicate aromas of white flowers & citrus fruits. Lightly textured on the palate, with more crisp citrus notes & a long, dry finish. A versatile wine which will pair well with almost all seafood or chicken dishes, or with mild cheeses. ...
