The Aberlour distillery is situated at the junction of the River Lour & Spey, it lies within a glen, surrounded by some beautiful scenery right next to the rugged peaks of Ben Rinnes. The Batch 40 is a respectful toast to Aberlour's founder Jame Fleming, & to this day is produced in the tradition of 19th Century malts. It is a deep rich amber colour & on the nose it has aromas of mixed spices, praline & spiced orange harmonising with rich deep notes of Oloroso sherry. On the Palate it provides flavours of orange, black cherries, dried fruit & ginger spiked with dark bitter chocolate & enriched with sherry & oak. It is full bodied & creamy with a robust & intense finish, giving bitter-sweet notes of exotic spices & dark chocolate & creamy. To drink add a touch of water to release all the aromas & bring the whisky to an ideal drinking strength. A slight haze may appear in the whisky but this is due to the traditional production methods & does not affect its taste or quality. As Aberlour a'bunadh is released in small batches, the flavours may vary slightly from one bottling to another. ...
