Cleaning the Drinking Fountain: Wash the drinking fountain once a week with a soft sponge & a mild detergent. Please take steps to ensure that no traces of soap are left behind. Cleaning the Filter: Remove the filter from the bottom compartment & clean it. Do not wash the filter with soap. The foam mats within the filter should also be cleaned because otherwise water will no longer flow through it. If the filter contains impurities or other foreign substances, you will need to replace it. (Replacement filters are sold separately.) Replace the filter every three weeks or when it becomes saturated with foreign substances (impurities, food remains, hair, etc.) Having to replace the filters very often may have something to do with the local environment or water quality, or it may be to do with have several pets. Please refer to the manual. Cleaning the pump: Check the drive magnet (" Propeller", Impeller), by removing it from the pump & clean it carefully with a cloth. As tap water contains limestone, it's not just coffee machines that build up limescale over several months, but also aquarium filters & cat / dog drinking fountains. That's why it's important to clean up the drive magnet with vinegar several times a year. The drive magnet looks like a propeller and/or a rotor. Pour some vinegar into a bowl, dilute with tap water & dip a cloth into the solution. Wipe the drive magnet with the damp cloth & carefully clean around it. It's highly important that all parts are properly cleaned out with tap water as vinegar & other cleaning substances can be harmful to animals. The pump should be cleaned min. every 4 weeks. Please refer to the manual. Important information when selecting a replacement pump for your Catit water fountain: Before ordering a replacement pump, please check the model of your water fountain to see whether the pump you are replacing is equipped with an electrical mains plug or a USB (Universal Serial Bus) adapter. Older versions have pumps which are equipped with an electrical mains plug. The current fountain has a pump which is equipped with a USB (Universal Serial Bus) adapter. Please make sure that you choose the replacement pump with the appropriate power connection to ensure that the replacement pump is compatible with your Catit water fountain.
