To find the correct Bottom Bracket for your bike, click here. Fitting almost all standards available on the market, more than 150 types of Ceramic Speed Bottom Brackets are available for upgrading your bike. Choosing to upgrade with a bottom bracket with coated bearings, you benefit from even further reduced friction & better resistance to contamination & corrosion. Thanks to our continuous R&D program, we have developed a special coating in cooperation with a European coating specialist. Applied to the steel races of the bearing, through an advanced process that ensures an even, smooth & homogeneous surface, the coating formula improves even further the high quality of the Ceramic Speed bearings. Once coated, the bearing races deliver a hardness level matched only by the Ceramic Speed balls, providing an extremely low friction coefficient between the two materials. The result is thus even less friction in our coated bearings than in our standard bearings. The coating is a metallic layer, which is 75% harder than the hardened steel races. The coating is applied in a very thin & even layer of 3 microns (0, 003 mm) on the entire surface of the bearing race. Both the inside & the outside are treated to achieve optimal results. As we use a metallic coating on top of the hardened steel, it can be difficult to see that a bearing is actually coated. However, if you take a closer look at a coated bearing, you will notice that the surface has a different shine than a standard Ceramic Speed bearing. The coating has several properties that improve the lifetime of our bearings. The increased hardness of the races combined with the super smooth & round Ceramic Speed balls, means virtually no wear on the bearing. The coating layer is applied completely closed & homogenous. The formula used for the coating is extremely resistant to corrosion. This means that even if the bearing is contaminated with degreaser, water or mud, the risk of bearing failure due to corrosion is negligible. The coated bearings are more resistant to lack of lubrication when it comes to wear & damage on the bearing nonetheless, this does not mean that the need for maintenance is completely eliminated. Just as we do with our standard bearings, we recommend to always lubricate them with our special grease to achieve optimal performance in terms of low friction & long lifetime. For all training & racing applications we recommend the use of Ceramic Speed Blue all-round grease. If you want to achieve the lowest possible friction, we recommend you to use our TT grease. Please be aware that compared to the standard Blue all-round grease, the TT grease has a shortened lifetime & therefore, it requires more frequent application. Like all other Ceramic Speed bearings, our coated products are handmade in Denmark. This means all bearings are built by hand & inspected manually at each step in the production process. Building a coated bearing adds a number of extra steps to the process. The Ceramic Speed balls & steel races are matched within microns after which, each set of races is coated. The races are kept together in pairs through the entire process & after coating, each set needs to pass the quality control before they go into production. Ceramic Speed coated bearings are available for pulley wheels, bottom brackets, wheel bearings & the Oversized Pulley Wheel System.
