The DVI-D to HDMI adapter passes DVI-D signals through to the compatible pins in the HDMI spec for use with HDMI equipment. Please note while this uses the DVI-D 24+1 (25 pin) dual link connector this is single link as HDMI is 19pin with a resolution of 1920x 1080. DVI-D does not carry audio so the HDMI ouput will not have audio either. The DVI connector is compatible with DVI-D DVI-I & DVI-A connectors but will only pass single link DVI digital signals. Due to compatibility between DVI & HDMI you can use this in reverse as there is no chipset converting signals. 24+1 DVI-D connector only the digital pins are connected not compatible with DVI-I or DVI-A cables that have the additional 4 pins around the horizontal pin.
