Leucothoe Scarletta likes a shady spot where it makes an attractive feature with its striking leaves which are dark maroon when young, turn green as they mature & become bronze in the autumn. This hardy evergreen definitely prefers partial or even deep shade, but when it is grown in full sun, the leaves take on an almost metallic sheen.
